Event 4 of the 2021 Lucky Hearts Poker Open was a $400 Deep Stack Pot-Limit Omaha (Single Re-Entry). A field of 225 entries created the largest Pot-Limit Omaha tournament in any Seminole Hard Rock Poker major series.

When the final table was reached nearly 13 hours after play began, it was 34-year-old Matthew Stuff who ran away with it. Stuff began second in chips and went on a heater, accumulating 75% of the chips in play with four players remaining.

It was at that point when the remaining players agreed to a deal. As the overwhelming chip leader, Stuff collected the entirety of the first-place payout. The other three players chopped up the remainder of the prize pool.

“I cut my teeth in PLO (Pot-Limit-Omaha) cash games,” Stuff said afterward. “PLO cash is what I’m really all about. I came down here honestly to get into a real big private game and came just for that. Then I felt like messing around in the big opening Hold’em event, but I suck at Hold’em. I busted eight players or so from the money last night. So I played this tournament just on a whim really and crushed, just ran amazing.”

Stuff, who resides in Clarksville, Tennessee, admitted he can see himself playing more tournaments moving forward.

“I don’t have any other tournament winnings or cashes. It hasn’t been a part of my cycle. Everything for me has just been grinding cash. I’ve been wanting to move into tournaments a little bit more, and now I’m a little bit more able to since my bankroll is a little bit better.”
