$1,100 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) $250,000 Guaranteed | Structure Level 1: 100/100 Flight A Entries: 71
The clock hit noon and tournament staff kicked off Event 9 in the front of the Event Center. We had 45 entries at the start and added another dozen or so for a good kickoff.
Cathy Josey was in her seat from the first hand and she is freerolling the big buy-in tournament. We hosted a Ladies Brunch on Saturday followed by the Ladies Event later in the afternoon. Cathy Josey outlasted a tough final table to take the title and part of her prize included her seat in today’s $1,100 buy-in $250,000 Guarantee tournament.
The second of three new tournaments on the schedule kicks off at noon in the Event Center and it’s something a little different. Event 9 is a $1,100 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament with two starting days and a big Day 2 to play it out. The tournament has a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool and it should be a fine warmup to the WPT Poker Showdown Championship this weekend.
Players will sit down to 25,000 starting stacks and they get 40-minute levels all the way down to heads-up play. Late registration is available until the start of Level 10 at 7:30pm following a one-hour dinner break. The first flight will come to an end later this evening after Level 15 and survivors will bag up for a return on Wednesday for Day 2.
We should see a lot of talent in the Event Center this afternoon.
