Justin Bonomo leads after Day 1
From a starting field of 25 entries, just five players remain after Day 1 of the $50,000 Super High Roller.
Here’s the lineup:
Seat 1: Adrian Mateos – 664,000 (55 bb) Seat 2: Nick Petrangelo – 478,000 (40 bb) Seat 3: Stefan Schillhabel – 359,000 (30 bb) Seat 4: David Peters – 294,000 (25 bb) Seat 5: Justin Bonomo – 705,000 (59 bb)
Until the last few levels of the night, the pace of action was remarkably brisk. It started right out of the gate, with Alan Schein eliminated on the very first hand of the day.
Schein returned once before being dismissed for good the second time. He wasn’t alone in firing multiple bullets, either. Justin Bonomo, Giuseppe Iadisernia, Koray Aldemir, and David Peters were each in for more than one apiece, too.
Peters and Bonomo are the only two re-enterers who will earn a payout ticket on Thursday, though. Mateos, Petrangelo, and Schillhabel each needed only one entry to get the job done.
Since play went so late this evening, the staff has granted the players a late restart. They’ll return to the felt at 1 p.m. to play it out for the trophy.

Ben Tollerene
Day 1 was supposed to end after Level 14, but the six finalists were not interested in returning tomorrow on the bubble. Level 15 came and went without much action until the very last hand of the level.
With Ben Tollerene down to just a few big blinds, the decision was made to play another two orbits to see if he would either run it up or succumb. He succumbed, as it turned out.
On the first hand of Level 16, Tollerene moved all in for 34,000 in the cutoff, Adrian Mateos called in the small blind, and Nick Petrangelo defended his big blind.
The two live players checked it down as the board ran out .
Tollerene: Mateos: Petrangelo:
Mateos and Petrangelo had the same hand, sixes full of sevens. They split the pot, chopping up Tollerene’s chips to send him out on the bubble.
The five remaining players crossed into the money with that knockout, and they bagged up their chips for the night.
A recap of the day’s action will be published shortly.

Adrian Mateos
David Peters opened the cutoff to 22,000, and Ben Tollerene called on the button. From the big blind, Adrian Mateos squeezed in a three-bet to 95,000. Peters folded, but Tollerene called to proceed heads-up.
The flop was . Mateos continued for 54,000, Tollerene raised all in for 210,000 effective, and Mateos called to put himself at risk.
Tollerene: Mateos:
Mateos’ overpair had him in good position to double up, and he did just that. The turn and river completed the board with blanks, giving Mateos a double-up.
Tollerene was on fumes as Level 15 concluded.
Adrian Mateos – 643,000 (64 bb) Ben Tollerene – 36,000 (4 bb)

Most of the pots in this level have been small and lightly contested, but that was not the case for this one.
It began with Ben Tollerene opening to 20,000 in middle position, and Justin Bonomo three-bet to 53,000 in the cutoff. Tollerene called.
The flop was . Tollerene checked, Bonomo continued for 65,000, and Tollerene called. That betting process repeated on the turn, though the amount is unknown. Both players checked through the river.
Tollerene showed for a pair of kings but Bonomo had that beat. He turned over to win the substantial pot with aces up. He appears to have moved into the chip lead with that pot.
