Now that the High Roller is finished (congratulations to Jason Mercier), all eyes are on the main stage for the heads-up battle between Brian Phillis and Omar Zazay for the SHRPO Championship and the first prize of $1 million.

High Roller: Jason Mercier Wins Championship ($652,800), Ian O’Hara 2nd ($391,700)

A hard-fought battle for this High Roller championship has ended crowning Florida’s own Jason Mercier as the winner.

O’Hara raised to 100,000 on the button and Mercier raised to 265,000.  O’Hara then pushed the rest of his 1.235 million chips in the middle with Mercier making the call.

Mercier turned over JhJc and O’Hara showed AhKc.  The flop came out Ks2cJd giving Mercier a set of jacks and paired O’Hara’s king.  But no more help came for O’Hara on the 4d7c turn and river giving Jason Mercier the hand and the title.

Jason Mercier wins the High Roller championship for $652,800 while Ian O’Hara takes home $391,700 for his runner-up finish.

High Roller: Mercier Breaks It Open

Jason Mercier has taken a giant step toward winning our High Roller event.

O’Hara bet out 100,000 on the button getting a call from Mercier. Off an AsJs6h flop, Mercier checked and O’Hara bet 135,000.  Mercier then check-raised to 345,000 and O’Hara made the call.

The 2d hit the turn and Mercier checked.  O’Hara bet 435,000 and Mercier called.  After a 4d on the river, Mercier checked and O’Hara fired out 1.040 million and Mercier check-raised again to 2.75 million.

O’Hara went into the tank for a couple of minutes and finally made the call.  Mercier turned over 5s3s for a rivered straight and O’Hara mucked.  Mercier has now taken command of the tournament going to 7.27 million leaving O’Hara at 1.03 million.

 

High Roller: O’Hara Strikes Back

Many players would fold under the pressure of losing a chip lead heads-up to Jason Mercier. But Ian O’Hara has managed to respond quickly to take the chip lead right back.

O’Hara on the button raised to 100,000 getting a call from Mercier.  After a flop of QhJcJd both players checked.  The 6h came on the turn and Mercier bet 140,000 getting a call from O’Hara.  On a river 6c, Mercier fired another 335,000 and O’Hara once again called.

Mercier turned over Qd8d for top pair but O’Hara turned up 9s6s for trip sixes. O’Hara’s chip stack went up to 4.45 million taking the lead away from Jason Mercier who is now at 3,85 million.

The tables have turned in our High Roller event.

On the button, Jason Mercier bet out 80,000.  Ian O’Hara raised to 230,000 and Mercier called.

The flop came 2s7hQc and O’Hara fired 180,000 chips with Mercier making the call. O’Hara then bet 525,000 after the Kd came on the turn and Mercier once again called. After the Ah hit the river, O’Hara checked and Mercier bet 1.2 million getting O’Hara to fold.

With the win in the hand, Mercier took the chip lead away from O’Hara.  Mercier now stands at 4.4 million with O’Hara at 3.9 million.
