Event 9: Amirali Bursts the Bubble

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 18: 3,000/6,000 with a 1,000 ante
Players Remaining: 72 of 1,239

Event 9 played one bubble hand before the break and two more after before they dropped down to 72 players. On the second hand, Amirali moved all-in over the top from the button after the cutoff open/shoved for 79,000.

The move caused Ariel Rosello to fold queens and Amirali was ahead for the knockout. Once all action was complete on the other tables, the hands were flipped up.

Amirali: JsJc
Opponent: Ad8d

Amirali needed to dodge the over card and diamonds and managed it on the 9s5c2s8h2h board to put Event 9 in the money.

Event 9: Break on the Bubble

Runner-runner for the win

Event 9 hit the money bubble portion of the tournament shortly before the first break and they played one round of hand-for-hand action before leaving for 15-minute one from the money

Shortly before the bubble, former SHRP champ Nicholas Mahabee was on the wrong end of a 3% runner-runner bad beat. He was in the big blind against Paul Balzano and Alicia Goldstein to the Tc7c3c flop.

Goldstein and Mahabee got their chips in the middle with Goldstein at risk and a huge underdog.

Goldstein: KcKs
Mahabee: Ac8c

Mahabee’s flopped flush was a 97% favorite to knock out Goldstein but that wouldn’t make for an interesting hand. The Kd turn gave Goldstein a set of kings and the board paired the Th river for the runner-runner full house win.

Event 9: Maddah Doubles Early; Paging Frankie Flowers

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 15: 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 108 of 1,239

Wally Maddah

The pace is quick at the start of Day 2 and Seminole Hard Rock Tampa poker ambassador Wally Maddah made the most of the action. He moved all-in for his final 26,000 with the board reading Ad9d7hAh and his opponent took his time to think it out.

After a few moments, he shrug/called to put Maddah at risk.

Maddah: JhJd
Opponent: Kc9c

The river was a blank 7d to give Maddah a double up to 103,000.

Meanwhile, there’s still no sign of Day 2 returning chip leader Frankie Flowers. He has a lot of chips but they are getting blinded off.

Event 9: Last Big Restart

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 15: 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 119/1,239

Frankie Flowers

Event 9 was the last multi-day event on the schedule and the small buy-in tournament tore past its $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. The $150 buy-in event drew 1,239 entries to push the prize pool up to nearly $150,000 by the time they were done.

Former SHRP champ Frankie Flowers returns as the chip leader among the 119 still around with a shot at the title. He’ll still have to work to add another trophy to the one he earned during the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown last year.

The last 72 players will earn a piece of the prize pool and they should get there in a hurry with the winner earning more than $37,000 for a $150 buy-in. They will kick things back off in the ballroom at 1pm and we’ll track them all the way down to a champ.

Nancy Thomas

The $360 Big Stack tournament is underway in The Poker Room and they’re taking a little time getting warmed up. Event 16 playing out on the second floor with a few dozen in the game including Nancy Thomas trying to bookend her series with two big results.

The SHRP regular started her LHPO series off on a big note when she final tabled the massive Ultimate Re-Entry event and was part of a four-way chop that saw her officially take second place for a nice six-digit payout.

Event 15: HORSE Moving North

The H.O.R.S.E. is getting some nice love over in The Poker Room with 43 entries mixing it up. Players still have a couple hours to make their way to the registration cage for a chance at the title.

Among them today is Robert Campbell, the SHRP regular with a handful of SHRP titles to his credit and a dozen Omaha/8 related torphies.

Event 9: Levy Flying High Near Bubble

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 2,000/4,000 with a 500 ante
Players Remaining: 83 of 1,239

Eli Levy

Event 9 is nearing the end of the second restart level and they are nearing the money bubble with 72 getting paid. The quick pace has been very nice to three-time SHRP champ Eli Levy.

The SHRP regular began Day 2 with 230,000 but has run it up to almost 500,000 in the first hour. As Seminole Hard Rock Tampa poker ambassador said, “they’re just giving him chips!”. Levy’s most recent stack boost came when he knocked fellow SHRP champ Stuart Greenbaum short of the money.
