Paul Balzano
Paul Balzano

The field is creeping back towards a single digit size but Paul Balzano is not going anywhere. He’s quietly built his stack to 150,000 with a few more levels in the day and looking good for a late run. Balzano has a few SHRP titles to his credit with his last coming in 2012 during the 2012 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” series.

They will play down this level, take a 15-minute break, then finish out two more levels before bagging up.

Looking Back at SHRPO Week 1

Dan Heimiller
Dan Heimiller earns his second SHRP title

One week of the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open is locked down and the first nine trophies were awarded. We kicked things off with a huge field in Event 1 which drew 2,570 entrants and it was Nicholas Mahabee outlasting them all.

Before he won his tournament, Jordan Chizick won Event 2 with its one-day run. Dan Heimiller was the most accomplished player of those nine to pick up a trophy; it was his second SHRP title to go along with his two WSOP bracelets and $5.8 million in career earnings.

The first nine events on the schedule drew 5,211 entrants and we’ve awarded more than $1.2 million in prize money so far. A nice warm up to the bigger, richer events on the horizon.

Below is a list of the tournaments run so far, the event champion, and a link to the tournament recap.

The Flight A field crossed the 300 entrant mark late in Level 6 and on an easy pass to hit the average we need to blast past the $1 million guarantee.

We starting to see some new faces in the ballroom today including Jacob Bazeley back in town looking for his second major SHRP title. He only cashed once during the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” but it was a big one, winning the Championship for nearly $569,000.

Event 10 Day 1A: Lithgow Leads Early

David Lithgow returns to the biggest stack in the room, more than quadrupling his 20,000 starting stack in two hours of action. Level 1 leader Francis Margaglione didn’t fair as well in the next three levels and dropped beneath a starting stack after his early double.
