In another hotly contested flight, only 4,000 chips separated our top two players and it is Walter Buss who will finish with the lead in tonight’s Day 1D.

Buss managed to put together a stack of 229,000 chips just sneaking past Randy Matienzo who bagged 225,000.  Bill Soscia ended up being the only other player who was over 200,000 chips finishing third tonight with 202,500.

Other top stacks include David Maddox with 198,500, Carl Pipitone with 192,000, Frank DeGeorge with 187,500, Bryan Munoz with 186,000 and Craig Bagon with 185,000.

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400/400 Ante

We will be under 100 players moving on again tonight as we’ve hit our final level with 99 players left.  One half-hour of play stands in the way of our remaining players and a chance at a piece of the Event 1 $500,000 guarantee.

One player making a move is Bill Soscia who has managed to take charge of his table is stacking up quickly.  We’ll see if he ends up as the leader as we wrap things up this evening.

Event 1 Day 1D: The Wall vs. The Skyscraper

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: 800/1,600/200 Ante

Table 50 has found two players who’ve been stacking up some serious chips but have decided to take two very different styles to do it.

Henry Regan has chosen to build a massive wall otherwise known as the “Game of Thrones” method while at the other end of the table Theo Lawson has taken the “Empire” skyscraper style.

At the end of the night, neither of them will care how they look as long as they keep making them bigger and carry them over to Day 2 on Sunday.

Players are now on break as we get ready to head into our final two levels in Day 1D with 127 players still battling it out.

Event 2: John Reese Wins Championship ($5,076), Jeff Bunims Finishes 2nd ($5,075)

$250 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 20: 10,000/20,000

After the elimination of Joel Harwood, the two players who had been the chip leaders for most of the final table decided to call it an evening making John Reese the winner of Event 2.

After a chop agreement splitting the money, John Reese walks away with the title and $5,076 while Jeff Bunims finishes in 2nd place winning $5,075.

Congratulations to our Event 2 Champion – John Reese!

Event 2: Joel Harwood Eliminated In 3rd Place ($2,687)

$250 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 20: 10,000/20,000

Joel Harwood couldn’t quite make it a daily double for the family today.

After taking a big hit a few short hands ago, Harwood found himself all-in against John Reese and Jeff Bunims.  After Harwood was all-in on the turn, Reese bet out on the river with the board showing 7dQsJd2d9h getting Bunims out of the hand.  Reese then turned over Ad6d3hAh for the nut flush edging out the QcQh4h8d for Harwood.

After a great day for the Harwood family, Joel Harwood finishes in 3rd place winning $2,687.

Event 2: Alban Torres Eliminated In 4th Place ($1,792)

$250 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 19: 5,000/15,000

Alban Torres had been scratching and clawing all night to try to keeps his hopes alive for the Event 2 title but his quest was ended in spectacular fashion.

Torres found himself all-in preflop showing Qc9h7h6c against Jeff Bunims holding TdTs4s8d.  The fate of Torres was quickly sealed as the flop came out TdJsTc giving Bunims quads and a stranglehold on the hand.

Alban Torres finishes in 4th place for $1,792.

Event 2: Christian Ivens Eliminated In 5th Place ($1,493)

$250 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 19: 5,000/15,000

Christian Ivens had been short-stacked for a very long time and kept finding ways to hang on but this time he got caught in the middle of the biggest stacks in the tournament.

After Jeff Bunims and John Reese capped a pot on a Tc Qh 9h 6s board, the Kd hit on the river and the cards were turned up showing Bunims had hit a king-high straight but Reese had the ace-high straight.  Ivens could only turn over a ten-high straight knocking him out of the tournament and moving most of Jeff Bunims’s stack to the other side of the table.

Christian Ivens finishes in 5th place for $1,493.
