Event 10: In the Money

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Blinds: 4k/8k/500

Players hit the breaks with 110 players left in the tournament while staffed stalked the tables waiting for one more knockout to go into hand-for-hand play. It stayed that way for nearly a full level and when the damn broke, hand-for-hand was unnecessary.

Two short stacks were eliminated on opposite ends to the room at the same time. Staff stopped the action to officially count down the field and that number was 108 remaining putting them all in the money. Min-cash is $543 while the winner will pick up $78,300.

After a short round of applause, they are back at it in Level 19. The short stacks who limped into the money will now try to double up or cash out while the leaders in the room try to increase their stack for a final table run.

Event 10: New Leader

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Blinds: 3k/6k/500

“Gambling baby!” was all Dan Suied could say after knocking out an opponent on Table 33. Suied raised from the small blind after action folded around and the 4-seat moved all-in over the top. Suied had him covered and called with the powerful 7s3c which were live against Ks8s. King-high was good on the flop but Suied hit the 3d turn and 7h river to send another home.

The rest of his table just laughed and shook their heads.

In the meantime, Andres Jara has quietly built his initial Day 2 stack of 146,600 to now sit with over 700,000. The local has been sitting at Table 39 since the start of play and picking off one short stack after another.

Event 10: Around the Room

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Blinds: 2.5k/5k/500

Players are back after their short break heading into Level 17. There are still four tables to break downstairs before the entire tournament is seated in the tournament area. We grabbed a few random chipcounts during the break including Zach Kessler (295,000), Leon “Benny” Benmargui (265,000), Eric Piderit (263,000), Dan Suied (106,000), and Juliet Yarina (101,000) while Marvin Young took a hit to drop down to 355,000.

Event 10: First Break

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Blinds: 2k/4k/400

Players are on their first break of the day as staff color up the black chips. Chris Lewis is the clear leader at the moment after more than tripling his Day 2 starting stack up near 600,000 while Marvin Young has seen little movement in his 500,000 stack. Less than 153 players remain in Event 10 with the average chip stack just under 150,000.

Event 10: For the River

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Blinds: 2k/4k/400

Richard Blanchard was in a great position to double up. His preflop raise with KcKs was called by Albert Eskenazi in the big blind and Blanchard moved all-in after the QdJc3s flop. Eskenazi eventually called and told Blanchard he was good before tabling 4h4c.

“I thought you had AK,” Eskenazi said just before the 9s hit the turn followed by the two out 4s on the river.

“That’s ok,” Blanchard responded, “we all know you can’t fold a hand.”

Event 10: Slow Crawl to the Money

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Blinds: 2k/4k/400

A few short stacks have dropped early but the bigger stacks in the room are staying away from each other as the field crawls towards the money. Marvin Young continues to lead at the end of the first level and with less than 180 remaining. All downstairs table will be broken, leaving only the upstairs tables in play, before we begin to see the money bubble strategies emerge.
