Event 1: Frank Traino, 14th place, $1,574

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

Blinds 25K/50K Ante 5K

The flop was 8-5-4 and Frank Traino had moved all in over the top of his opponent’s 225K raise for approximately 300K more. His opponent took over a minute before proclaiming “too much in there” and made the call with 5C3C. Before seeing his opponent’s cards Traino said “good call” not realizing he was actually ahead with his pocket 7’s.

“3 or a 5” the bigger stack asked before the dealer put out an Ace on the turn.

“3, 5, Deuce,” he revised his request. This time the dealer obliged, putting a deuce up on the felt to deliver the knock out blow to Frank. Still an excellent finish.

Event 2: Catching Up With Event 1

$120 + $30 No Limit Hold’Em Double Stack Turbo

Blinds 2K/4K Ante 500

Event 2 is doing their best to pass Event 1 – only 22 players left compared to the 18 left in Event 1. One player probably didn’t think he would be going to the rail when he looked down at pocket kings and got it all in for 55K. His opponent held aces though and the cooler only left the eliminated player in disbelief as he came up short of the money.

Event 1: Two Tables Left

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

Blinds 20K/40K Ante 5K

We are down to two tables after Jessica Rosado made a move at the wrong time and finished in 19th place. Lou White opened from the button with his big stack to 120K and Rosado made it 300K, leaving herself with just about that amount. White moved all in over the top and after thinking for several minutes, Rosado decided she was committed and made the call with TS8S. White turned over pocket kings and when the board ran out 3H7H3SAD2D, Rosado was off to collect her winnings.

Event 2: It’ll Be Final Table Before You Know It

$120 + $30 No Limit Hold’Em Double Stack Turbo

Blinds 1K/2K Ante 300

At the rate Event 2 is going it isn’t going to take long until we make the money and get to the final table. There are 41 players left with an average stack of 41K (20 big blinds). Here’s a typical hand:

Player raises and is called. Flop comes T-6-3. Player who raised pre-flop moves all in and is called by 4-3. Other player has A-K and picks up a straight draw on the jack turn. The river is a blank though and he is eliminated. “Call off with bottom pair,” he said as he walked off, and then muttered “f***ing donkey.”

“I knew you had ace king,” smiled the guy as he stacked his newly acquired chips.

Event 1: 3 Tables Left, Payouts for 28th thru 46th place

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

Blinds 15K/30K Ante 3K

With 28 players left, a player limped from the cutoff and was called by the button. The small blind; Lou White, President of Pokertek, completed. The big blind checked his option and we saw a TH6D5H flop. Lou and the big blind checked and the cutoff bet 120K. The button folded. Lou took a look over at the cutoff and asked for a count. The cutoff stacked out his chips real quick and said “about 900K”. Lou said “I’m all in”. The big blind looked disgusted but tossed his cards in the muck. The cutoff didn’t waste much time in calling, turning over ADAC. He had limped in pre-flop with aces and it cost him as it let White hit two pair with 6C5C.

“Give me a ten,” the cutoff begged the dealer. The dealer did not oblige and turned over the JC. “Jack, Ten, or Ace,” he pleaded. Again no luck for him as the river was the 2C. They counted out his stack – 888K and Lou had him covered by 40K to felt him in 28th place. We have now redrawn to three tables.

Event 1 Day 2: Friendly Game

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

Lou White and Juliet Yarina spent a large part of the day sitting in the 6 and 7-seats pleasantly chatting as Yarina built her castle and White worked his short stack higher. It wasn’t all fun and games when the two finally butted heads after the dinner break.

White was all-in with Ad Td up against Yarina’s 6c 6s and the 9h 7d 4s flop was harmless but Yarina was in the danger zone after the Ad turn. Looking for miracle, the river hit Ts doubling White up to 500,000 while Yarina was down but still not out.
