Henry Fermin (Hallandale Beach, FL) picked the right time to go on a heater as his pocket Aces held three times at the final table. His good fortune led to a three-way chop that gave him his second career Seminole Hard Rock, Hollywood trophy.

“That’s why you play,” said Fermin who chopped $8,131 evenly with Manuel Jo (Miami, FL) and Son Pham (Coral Springs, FL), “for the trophy and the money. That’s the poker life.”

The other reason to play this event was the $100 bounty for each knockout.

“It’s good for players who don’t have a bankroll,” said Pham who picked up $500 in bounties, “you get that guaranteed money right away. Meanwhile Jo was the big bounty hunter with 11 knockouts.

The tournament began with 132 entries that created a $14,520 prize pool. 18 places were paid, but when a double knockout happened on the money bubble an additional person cashed as Daniel Reaven (Chicago, IL) and Jennifer David (Hialeah, FL) split the first payout.

Fermin, who earned $2,711 for the win, picked up 7 bounties and said he plays at Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL four to five times a week.

The chop earned him bookend trophies after he won an event here during the 2011 Rock and Roll Poker Open.
