David “Doc” Sands moved all-in from the hijack for 570,000 and chip leader Ian O’Hara moved all-in from the button. The blinds released and Sands showed Ah8h against O’Hara’s AcQh.

A dominating hand that improved on the QcJh2s. The Jd was no help to Sands and he was drawing dead to 6th place and the first six-digit High Roller payout.

Ashwin Sarin moved all in from under the gun for 460,000 and Jason Mercier shipped in over the top from the cutoff. The rest of the players let their hands go and they tabled their hands.

The Tc7s3s flop did not help Sarin but he picked up an open-ended straight draw on the 9c turn. The river Jc couldn’t save his tournament and Sarin was gone in 7th for $93,400.

Phil Laak never got much going at the High Roller final table other than vocally jousting with MC Phil Hellmuth. He took a shot for a double after action in front of him.

Sean Winter opened to 65,000 from UTG+1 and Jason Mercier called from the hijack. Phil Laak three-bet to 570,000 in the small blind and Ian O’Hara moved all-in.

Winter and Mercier released their hands and Laak called at risk with KdQs. O’Hara was looking good with AcAd and nothing changed on the Th7d2h flop. Laak paired the Kd turn but was gone after the 2c river.

Jason Mercier opened to 60,000 from the cutoff and David Sands moved all-in for 320,000 on the button. Mercier took his time to think it over and finally called with Ad5s.

Mercier held an over card to Sands’ KhKd but was drawing thin after the Kc9c6h flop. Mercier’s hand was dead on the Jc turn and Sands doubled.

Ian O’Hara raised from the hijack to 65,000 and Jason Mercier called in the big blind to the Th4d3c flop. Mercier check raised to 135,000 after O’Hara bet out 55,000.

O’Hara called and they both checked the Td turn. Mercier bet 180,000 after the 5h river and O’Hara called to see Mercier’s JsJh. O’Hara mucked to send more ships to Mercier.

Ian O’Hara opened to 55,000 from UTG+1 and Ashwin Sarin three-bet to 130,000. O’Hara put in a fourth bet to 455,000 to get an all-in from Sarin for 717,000.

O’Hara quickly called at risk but holding AcAd against Sarin’s AhKs. It was a tough spot for Sarin but he paired the KdQs5d for a small sweat. O’Hara dodged the bad beat after the Qc turn and 7s river to double up.

High Roller: Mercier Takes the Lead

Big-time Jason Mercier is starting to put a move on the High Roller event and now owns the chip lead.

The hand that sent him up top started with him min-raising from UTG+1 and Sands called in middle position to the AdQc6d flop. Mericer led out for 42,000 and Sands called again before the Ts turn.

Mercier fired another 117,000 and it received another call from Sands to the 9d river which they both checked. Mercier tabled top two AhQs to take the big pot.
