Jerry Wong sends David Smart home in 23rd

Jerry Wong moved all in from the small blind and David Smart went into the tank from the big blind. After several minutes in the tank, Smart called and was all in for about 260,000.

Smart showed 8h8c and was in the lead against Wong’s 3s3h.

The flop was AhJh9h and Smart kept the lead. The turn was the 3c, however, and Wong turned a set to leave Smart drawing slim. The river was the 2d and Smart was eliminated in 24th place.

He took home $12,300 and Wong neared the million chip mark.

“Is that how you make the November Nine?” asked another player at the table. “You just get it in bad and get there?”

“He’s using up all of his run good now,” joked Justin Young.

Jerry Wong – 900,000 (75 bb)
David Smart – Eliminated

Event 24: Nikolai Sears Cripples Matt Stout Who Doubles in Turn

$1,100 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Players: 153 of 828 players remaining

Matt Stout raised to 6,000 from middle position and was soon met by an all-in three-bet for 44,600 from Nikolai Sears in the small blind. Stout made a quick call and discovered the bad news.

Stout: 10s10c
Sears: AhAs

Stout was looking for a ten, and he found one on the Kd3h10d[flop]. The 5c turn meant Sears could only survive with an ace on the river, and he got it as the Ac spiked!

Stout was left with just 11,000 after the hand, which he moved all in under the gun the very next hand holding the AsKc. He received a call from a player holding the 8s8h, and Stout managed to win the flip after the board ran out 2c10hAcKh3s.

Nikolai Sears – 90,000
Matt Stout – 25,000

With around 17,000 in the pot and a flop of JhQcAc, Athe player in the big blind got his stack of 30,000 all in against Alex “Assassinato” Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald: Ah9h
Big Blind: AdAs

Fitzgerald needed to catch runner-runner to eliminate his opponent, and much to the amazement of the rest of the table, that’s just what he did as the 8s turn and 10c river gave him an improbable straight.

Alex Fitzgerald – 170,000
