The heads up match began with Chris De Guzman holding a tiny lead but Raminder Singh didn’t take long to get it back. They also didn’t wait long to mix it up in a big hand to finish Event 4 off in the early morning hours.

De Guzman shoved with Ac7s and Singh quickly called with AhKh to get a few unhappy expletives from De Guzman.

Singh never had a sweat as the the final spread was 6s6c2c9sAd to give him the hand and the trophy. He earned $11,440 for his efforts while De Guzman had to settle for $6,270 runner-up money.

Scott Zakheim (Davie, FL)
Scott Zakheim (Davie, FL)

Scott Zakheim lost most of his stack when he doubled up Chris De Guzman, just like Ryan Dunn before him. De Guzman’s Ad7d won against KhQh to leave Zakheim with less than 200,000.

Those went in the middle on the next hand and it was De Guzman trying for another bounty. This time he had a dominating hand with AcTc against Td3c but Zakheim added an gutshot draw on the 6d5c2s flop. That was as close as he got to staying alive when the dealer put out the 7s turn and Jd river.

Zakheim is a regular in our tournament but had to settle for 3rd place money.

Heads up between De Guzman and Raminder Singh began with the two in a near dead heat.

Event 4: Ryan Dunn – 4th Place ($3,040)

Ryan Dunn had a nice stack but lost two big hands to go out next. He doubled up Chris De Guzman when his KsJh couldn’t catch up to AcTd for the first big hit.

His open-shoved his final hand with Ac7s and Chris De Guzman called with 3d3h on the button. It was another race and the former WPT final tablist never found anything as the board ran KsTc9dTh3c to send him out in 4th place for $3,040.

After an hour of action with no big hands, Ali Purdy suddenly found himself flipping for a big pot. He opened to 70,000 under the gun and Raminder Singh moved all-in from the big blind.

Purdy had under 200,000 and quickly called with AdTs to race against 3d3s. He fell far behind on the Jh9d3h flop and was drawing dead after the Td turn to go out in 5th place for $2,280.

This was Singh 19th bounty, an impressive feat.

Action folded to Timothy Sissons on the button and he moved all-in for 256,000. Ali Purdy called in the small blind and Ryan Dunn considered a bit before letting his hand go.

Sissons was dominated with AdTc against AhJc and couldn’t find a way to come from behind as the dealer spread the Qh8c6c2d3c board. Purdy picking up another nice pot and UK’s Sissons was gone in 6th place for $1,900.

Jorge Gomez had enough chips that he didn’t need to get too frisky but found a flop he liked. He was heads up with Ryan Dunn to the Ks8s3s flop and they got the chips in the middle with nearly identical stacks.

Dunn’s AsAh was ahead against Gomez’ top pair KcQs and stayed that way as it completed 9c9d to ship the pot to Dunn. After counting down both stacks, Dunn was just a few thousand ahead to eliminated Gomez in 7th place for $1,520.

Event 4: Al Gomez – 8th Place ($1,140)

Al Gomez was the short stack coming back from break and put in his final 116,000 from early position and Chris De Guzman called the shove.

“I’m going to suckout,” Gomez laughed.

They both hit the AhKsTc flop but De Guzman was still ahead. Gomez was unable to catch on the 8h turn or Ts river and he was gone in 8th place while De Guzman picked up another final table bounty.

Henry Ho lost all but 25,000 of his stack in a flush-over-flush hand against Jorge Gomez and he put them in the middle after Gomez to 25,000 on the next hand. Chris De Guzman called on the button along with Raminder Singh in the big blind.
