Event 5 Flight E: Getting Close

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100
Flight E Entries: 160

Marty Robbins

Flight E is only a few dozen entries away from putting Event 5 over the $150,000 guaranteed prize pool and it should get there shortly. After that, it’s all icing on the big money cake.

Marty Robbins has some success in this type of event. The South Florida transplant made it down to the final table of the 2,022-entry $150 buy-in field in the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, finishing in second place after a five-way deal.

Event 1 Flight E: Aiming High

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

Event 5 has four flights locked down with two more this afternoon and evening. There are more than 1,000 entries in the game and Flight E needs only 187 more to hit the $150,000 guaranteed prize pool for the $150 buy-in tournament.

Then they’ll pile the money on top until registration closes later this evening on Flight F.

Entrants start with 10,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels throughout the tournament. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 7 at 6:20pm. The tournament will play through 14 full levels and survivors will bag up their chips for Day 2 tomorrow.

Cards are in the air and we’ll track their progress up to, and past, the guarantee mark.

  • $150,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 10,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 7

Registration closed on Flight D and the big brains crunched the numbers to give us the total entry count. The fourth flight drew 292 to the game to put the combined count over 1,000 and only 187 entries away from hitting the $150,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Event 5 Flight D: Piderit Three-for-Three

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 150/300 with a 50 Ante
Flight D Entries: 261

Eric Piderit watches his third pair of pocket aces turn a set

The internet tells us that the odds of being dealt aces three hands in a row are 0.000009265% (or 1 in 10,793,861 sets of 3 hands). Per Eric Piderit’s table, that’s exactly what happened and all three times there was a showdown as proof.

The last instance had him knock out two other opponents and push him over 50,000 in early action. Not a bad start.

David Jackson held the chip lead at break but Piderit passed him over with his post-break run with a lot of players trying to chase both down.

Top stacks and notables:

Eric Piderit – 54,900 (183 bb)
David Jackson – 46,000 (153 bb)
Bruno Fortin – 38,500 (128 bb)
Sergio Alves – 38,000 (127 bb)
Hany Ayoub – 35,450 (118 bb)
Carlton Creque – 35,000 (117 bb)
Jeff Kessler – 22,800 (76 bb)
Jacquelyn Scott – 14,700 (49 bb)
Evan Teitelbaum – 13,500 (45 bb)
Charlemagne Benjamin – 11,575 (39 bb)

Event 5 Flight D: Give Them a Break

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200 with a 25 Ante
Flight D Entries: 225

Jacquelyn Scott

The Flight D count ticked over 200 entries in Level 4 and continues to move higher with 90 more minutes to register. But have no fear, if you miss Flight D, the next session starts at 3pm. Players will head off on their first break at the top of the hour and they will step away from 15 minutes.

Former WSOP Ladies Champion Jacquelyn Scott is back today. She has several close calls, including two runner-up results, but still trying to pose with her first SHRP trophy.

Event 5 Flight D: Higher and Higher

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 3: 75/150 with a 25 Ante
Flight D Entries: 180

Dmitry Agrachov

The Event 1 prize pool climbed over $100,000 in the early levels of Flight D and on its way to hitting the $150,000 guarantee. We have players hitting the registration desk in a constant, steady parade with registration open for two more hours.

Dmitry Agrachov is a familiar face in most of our events but the local grinder had yet to book a SHRP title until this past December. After several close calls here, Agrachov won the $570 Deep Stack event at our fellow SHRP Seminole Hard Rock Poker Tampa room during the 2016 Winter Poker Open

Event 5 Flight D: Triple Digits and Moving Higher

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100
Flight D Entries: 128

David Jackson

We’re seeing a nice early crowd on a Tuesday morning and Flight D is moving Event 5 closer to the $150,000 guarantee. The tournament is right around 350 entries shy of the mark with plenty of time to get there and we should see it hit early in Flight E leaving Flight F to push it over $200,000.

You don’t usually have some of the bigger names hopping in during the pre-ante levels, especially after a tough evening. But David Jackson is back in the ballroom not long after finishing up another tournament. He was in line to earn his first SHRP title in the $1,100 Six-Max event but had to settle for second place after a tough battle.

Event 5 Flight D: Final Flights

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

Three flights for Event 5 are complete and we have three more today, one more day to book a spot in Day 2 of $150 buy-in $150,000 Guarantee tournament.

The tournament drew 771 entries across three flights yesterday to put us on an easy pace to cross over the guarantee later today. Of those 771 starters, only 71 players have earned a spot in the Day 2 field tomorrow. Today’s players will attempt to join them.

Each entrant will start with a 10,000 stack out front and the tournament runs 30-minute levels from start to finish. Late registration is open until the start of Level 7 at 2:20pm with unlimited re-entries available during that time. Action will complete for the flight at the end of Level 14 and survivors will return tomorrow to play down to a champion.

They will get underway at the top of the hour and work their way to the end.
