Olivier Busquet
We’re seeing more and more big names come to town for the big money prelim and get ready for the big WPT events on the horizon.
WPT Champions Club member Olivier Busquet jumped into early action and we caught him putting his last ~6,000 in the middle from early position. The big blind opponent called and Busquet needed to catch an over.
Big Blind: Busquet:
It started well for Busquet when he hit a part of the flop but he blanked the turn and river to exit. But have no fear Busquet fans, “livb112” hit the registration desk to use a re-entry option.
$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 5: 150/300 with a 50 Ante Flight E Entries: 537
David Stanford
Players returned to their seats and they are ready to grind four more levels before we start shutting down registration. They added another 120 entries since breaking the $1,000,000 guarantee and they are still hitting the tables at a regular pace.
David Stanford had the best opening four levels of anyone else in the room and his 85,000 is setting the current pace. John Ryan topped 70,000 and Eric Silevitch isn’t far behind with plenty of time for others to catch them.

With more than 20 minutes remaining before the first break of the day, the Event 9 prize pool began climbing for the first time. Every entry after 417 puts more money on top of the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
We’ll know later tonight exactly how high it climbs but there’s still plenty of time for players to hop in Flight E or join Flight F starting at 6pm.
$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 3: 75/150 with a 25 Ante Flight E Entries: 362
Ruslan Dykshteyn
Flight E blasted past 300 entries and now closing on 400 with plenty of time to run it higher. Everyone is watching for entry 417, the one that puts Event 9 right on the $1,000,000 prize pool mark.
$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 2: 50/100 Flight E Entries: 296
Josh Gibson
We expected Flight E to grow rapidly and it’s showing on the tournament clock with nearly 300 entries in with 15 minutes left before the noon-time hour.
Josh Gibson is back in the ballroom where he has some past success. He has two deep runs in the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” Championship with a 28th place finish last year and a big third place result in 2015 for more than $200,000.
$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 1: 25/50 Flight E Entries: 205
Frankie Flowers, all smiles after doubling up on the first hand
Our first walk through Flight E found a very happy SHRP regular Frankie Flowers stacking up chips. As it turns out per Flowers, he called a min-raise on the very first hand with , flopped two pair, and his opponent with put his 20,000 stack in the middle.
That 20,000 now belongs to Flowers as the very early chip leader.
“I just have a face everyone thinks is bluffing,” the former SHRP champion laughed.
$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 1: 25/50
Players are down to the final two chances to take home a piece of a seven-digit prize pool. Four flights have come and gone in Event 9 with only Flights E and F remaining today. The first order of business is getting to the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool this afternoon.
The first four flights combined to put 1,583 entries into the tournament leaving it only 417 shy of hitting the mark. With a busy Saturday expected in the ballroom, we should get there early and start piling money on top.
Like the previous flights, players sit down to 20,000 starting stacks and Day 1 levels last 30 minutes. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm with unlimited re-entries during that time. Flight E will come to an end after Level 14 and survivors will bag up and join the other 286 who advanced from the previous flights.
It will be a fun, full day in the ballroom and we’re ready to watch them push for some huge money.
$1,000,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
Players begin with 20,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
Day 1 will end after Level 14 or Tournament Director discretion
