Darryll Fish

There was a nice run to the registration desk as Level 8 was coming to a close to push Flight C over 400 entries. Players are on their second break of the day and registration will close when they restart in Level 9.

One of those late entrants was Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Darryll Fish. The Florida pro is back on home turf after tearing up some tournaments elsewhere. Since the beginning of the year, Fish cashed twice during the 2017 Aussie Millions, won the WPTDeepStacks Parx $2,500 event, and finished third in the Battles at the Beach up in Pompano. He’s earned more than $2.5 million in a career that includes a WSOP Circuit ring and an Aussie Million Tournamen of Champions title.

Dan “Miami Boss” Suied

Flight C rolled into Level 8 with the count racing to put together another crowd over 400 entries. It will be tight to get that high this afternoon but the tournament is still on easy pace to blast the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool before too long.

We found Dan “Miami Boss” Suied making another appearance in the ballroom and he has some nice results in huge opening events here. The biggest came in the first tournament of the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open when he banked more than $110,000 in a four-way deal that saw him take home the title.

Angela Moed

Two more familiar faces popped up on our radar this afternoon and it’s a family affair split between two tournaments. Angela and Michael Moed are successful players though each tends to play different games.

Angela took her seat in the big Event 1 Flight C crowd and she has a nice record in huge-field tournaments. Her two biggest scores came during the World Series of Poker, both resulting in final table appearances. Angela made it through most of the 936-player field in the 2012 WSOP Ladies Championship and took home nearly $50,000 for a fourth place finish then finished second in a massive 1,841-player $1,000 buy-in WSOP event two years later.

Meanwhile, Michael is across the hallway and grinding it up in one of his favorite variants of the game. He owns five major SHRP trophies (plus a Fun in the Sun title) among his nine career wins with seven of them coming in an Omaha/8 tournament.

Mike Gomez Cortes

Players returned to their seats after the break and Level 5 is underway. Players have less than two hours to make their way to the ballroom for some St. Patrick’s afternoon action.

Mike Coates had a very nice first four levels today. He more than tripled up his starting stack and is the clear leader in early action. SHRP regular Iman Dan is only a few chips behind with some players trying to chase them down.

Top stacks and notables:

Mike Gomez Cortes – 61,700 (206 bb)
Iman Dan – 60,000 (200 bb)

Event 2: Harwood Grinding

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Single Re-Entry)
Level 3: 200/400 Limit
Total Entries: 55

Joel Harwood

The Omaha/8 tables continue to fill up as they move through their quiet day in the meeting room. We’re seeing more regular faces jump in the game including Joel Harwood (pictured), Errol Massey, defending champ Jordan Chizick, and multiple Omaha/8 champ Robert Campbell.

Harwood is the father of Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Loni Harwood and he can hold his own with anyone in the room. He holds an H.O.R.S.E. title from the Everglades Poker Open in September but looking for his first Omaha/8 title after several close calls. Harwood has finished second in five Omaha tournament with the last coming in this event last year when Chizick claimed the trophy.

Event 1 Flight C: Beasley and March

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 3: 75/150 with a 25 ante
Flight C Entries: 225

Mike Beasley

Flight C continues to fill in the field as they crossed into the afternoon hours and we found one particularly tough, short-handed table on the far end of the room.

Mike Beasley and Tony March are regulars in the ballroom whenever a big series rolls around and the two late entrants find themselves up against each other.

Both players have remarkable records with Beasley one big cash from hitting $1.5 million in career earnings and March has a handful of big final table appearances including a $50,000 score for a runner-up finish during a WPT Regional event at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.

While the big Event 1 field plays out in the ballroom, our first trophy will be awarded later this evening in the meeting room across the hallway. Event 2 is a $300 Omaha/8 tournament with a group of talented players.

An intimate affair ifor the four-card specialist including defending champ Jordan Chiznick. He won his second career SHRP title last April in the Omaha/8 event and followed that up with another Omaha/8 tournament win in August during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.

Players start with 10,000 stacks out front and the tournament will run 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration is open until the start of Level 9 at 4:30pm and players have a single re-entry option if they bust their stack. Event 1 Flight C: Czinkota Trying to Break Through

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50
Flight C Entries: 130

Zoltan Czinkota

Flight C kicked off right on schedule and the field continues to grow in the morning hours. Some players were here at the very start while some enjoy the amenities around the property before getting involved.

Local favorite Zoltan Czinkota was here bright and early because his stack went in play at the start of the morning. That’s what happens when you win your way into the tournament via satellite. Czinkota played in the $115 Multi-Event satellite yesterday afternoon and booked his seat in today’s field along with an entry into the $570 buy-in/$1,000,000 Guarantee Event 9.

If you would also like to win your way into both big tournaments, we have another Multi-Event satellite running at 3pm with five packages guaranteed.

Czinkota is still trying to sit for a winner’s photo in one of our major events. He’s a constant presence in our tournaments with his share of second places results in our four big festivals but still shy of the top prize. Czinkota’s most recent runner-up finish came last August in the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $360 Six-Max event.

Event 1 Flight C: First Weekend

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

The first weekend of the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown is here and with it brings the next two starting flights of the big Event 1 opener. The $360 buy-in $500,000 Guarantee tournament drew a big crowd for the first two flights yesterday and we should tease that guaranteed prize pool later today.

Flights A and B combined for a total of 831 entries to put the prize pool near the $250,000 mark with four flights to go. Of those entries, 160 players stuck around throughout the day and will return on Sunday for Day 2. Today’s two fields should surpass the previous numbers and lock up the guarantee.

Players sit down to 20,000 starting stacks and Day 1 levels last 30 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm and they will continue to play until the end of Level 14. Those with chips will put them in a bag for a return on Sunday for Day 2.

Action will kick off at the top of the hour and we will see how many players can join the 160 already moving on.
