Joe McKeehen

2015 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Joe McKeehen raised to 2,200 under the gun and the player in the cutoff called. Kathy Lehne then three-bet all in for 7,400 from the small blind and both her opponents called.

The two active players checked both the Ac2c4d flop and 6h turn, and then McKeehen bet just 2,200 on the Kh river. The player in the cutoff folded and the hands were turned up.

McKeehen: KsJs
Lehne: 7s7d

McKeehen had rivered a pair of kings and that was enough to send Lehne to the rail.

Joe McKeehen – 45,000 (45 bb)
Kathy Lehne – Eliminated

Event 17: Valentin Vornicu Out to Early Lead

$10,000 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$500,000 guaranteed | Structure
Level 9: 400/800/100
Entries: 90

Valentin Vornicu

A short-stacked player got their stack of 5,400 all in preflop and found themselves at risk against Valentin Vornicu, who was the first player to eclipse the six-figure mark in chips.

Vornicu: 3h3s
Opponent: Kh9c

It was a flip but not after the Js3d7d flop gave Vornicu a set. The 10h turn kept his opponent drawing live, but the 7h river ended up improving Vornicu to a full house.

Valentin Vornicu – 108,000 (135 bb)

Event 17: David Stamm Eliminates Cate Hall

$10,000 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$500,000 guaranteed | Structure

Entries: 90

Cate Hall moved all in for 8,500 from the cutoff and David Stamm looked her up  from the big blind.

Stamm: Qs10s
Hall: Ad8s

Hall got it in good but she fell behind on the Ks10cKh flop.  Neither the 5s turn nor 6h river was the ace she was looking for and she made a beeline for the door.

David Stamm – 45,000 (56 bb)
Cate Hall – Eliminated

Nick Petrangelo

A short-stacked Nick Petrangelo moved all in for right around 3,000 from the hijack and action folded to Joseph Cheong in the big blind. He didn’t seem excited about it, but he called.

Cheong: 10d5h
Petrangelo: Jd8d

“That a good flop,” a smiling Petrangelo said after the 4h8s8c flop gave him a set. The 2c turn left Cheong drawing dead and Petrangelo shipped the double after the 6c was run out on the river.

Nick Petrangelo – 6,000 (10 bb)
Joseph Cheong  – 14,000 (23 bb)

Not to be deterred, Kuether has come over to Event #17 $10,000 NLHE and has entered the field.

Joe Kuether – 10,000 (20 bb)

Event 17: Alan Schein Likes to Hear “You Win”

$10,000 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$500,000 guaranteed | Structure
Level 6: 200/400/50

Alan ScheinAlan

Joe McKeehen raised to 900 from the hijack and Paul Volpe  called from the button. Alan Schein opted to come along from the big blind and trio saw a flop of Js10s7s, which they all checked.

When the 6c appeared on the turn, Schein led out for 1,400, McKeehen folded, and Volpe called to see the 2d river.

Schein checked and Volpe thought for a bit before betting 5,000. Schein wasted little time in calling and Volpe simply said, “You win.”

Schein then tabled the 9c9h and Volpe sent his hand to the muck.

Alan Schein  – 45,000 (113 bb)
Joe McKeehen – 8,700 (22 bb)
Paul Volpe – 7,000 (18 bb)
