The Memorial Day holiday weekend is here and we expect a great day in the poker room. The only tournament on the schedule is the second flight of the $1,650 buy-in $300,000 Guarantee Main Event, something for everyone to concentrate upon.

Flight A drew 80 entries and only 14 of them were able to advance to Day 2 with poker pro TK Miles leading them all. We expect quite a few more to book their Sunday seat today.

Each entrant will start out with deep 50,000 stacks and all Day 1 levels last 40 minutes. They will switch up to 60 on Day 2 then bump to 90 minutes after the Day 2 dinner. Late registration is available until the start of Day 2, giving players a lot of time to make it to the poker room for some Deep Stack Poker Series action.

They will get underway at the top of the hour and we will keep an eye on everyone.

Play has come to an end for Flight A of the May Deep Stack Poker Series $300,000 Guarantee Main Event with 14 players remaining of the starting 80.

TK Miles moved ahead of the counts late and held on to put the biggest stack in a bag. His 527,000 will be tough to beat in the last two flights but they will have bigger fields so more chips in play.

Flight A is now into the last level of the evening and only 40 minutes left to run up a big stack for Day 2. We have a new chip leader and the big stack now belongs to TK Miles. He’s up to 480,000 and showing little interest in sitting on it.

The session is also down to the last two tables and we might lose a player or two over the next 40 minutes.

Michael Newman seems to have a knack for getting a lot of chips late in opening flights. The reigning Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open champ bagged the biggest stack in his Event 1A flight and he’s looking good to do it again.

Newman moved to a new seat in the back of the room and he’s now up to 436,500 with a little over an hour remaining in the day.

Flight A players returned to their seats and we have 29 players remaining of the starting 79. Registration is still open so that number should jump a few before they bag up at the end of Level 15.

There are plenty of tough spots in the tournament and Ronald Young leads them all. He came back to a stack of 325,000 with TK Miles and a few others on his tail. Young picked up the biggest cash of career a few days before the series kicked off when he won the May Big Stack Special for $13,000 plus his seat in this event.

With the flop reading , David Shmuel bet 20,000 and Chanpiseth moved all in for 58,000. TK Miles reshipped from the button with more than enough to cover Shmuel if he called. He thought for a few minutes before he tossed his cards into the muck.

Miles was ahead with the flopped straight against top two for Keam. The Event 3 champ needed to catch a boat or some interesting cards to stay in the game. The turn made things interesting, giving Keam flush outs to go with his boat outs plus some chops. That would be 18 stay alive outs and it was the chop that got there on the river to keep him around.

Everything was going without a hitch for David Shmuel today. Then he ran into Larry Klur.

We missed the preflop action but we were there when Klur was all in for 87,000 after the flop and Shmuel had him at risk and in trouble.

Klur was behind with top pair/decent kicker against Shmuel’s tens up. Once he saw the hands, Klur was out of his seat before the hit the turn. But he had to sit back down when the river counterfeited Shmuel’s two pair and kickers played to give Klur the double.

David Shmuel isn’t the only one having a good day. We found Chris Bolek in the front of the tournament area working on a nice chip castle of his own. He’s sitting with 220,000 heading down the homestretch and in good position for a big bag.

Bolek picked up his first career WSOP bracelet last summer in the $1,500 Bounty event. But that win wasn’t the biggest of his career, that was a $480,000 cash after he won the Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open Championship right here in 2014.
