Darren Elias

As the WPT LHPO Championship loses talent, the High Roller picks it up. The most recent to join was four-time WPT champ Darren Elias after dropping out of the Championship in 32nd place. Now he’s in the High Roller trying to run up a stack.

One who’s already done that is Maria Ho. Our 2019 WPT Poker Showdown final table member is up to 257,500 from her starting 100K stack.

Anthony Zinno

The blinds are up along with the entry. WPT Season XIII Player of the Year Anthony Zinno would much rather be playing deep into the WPT LHPO Championship but he fell short of the final table with a 38th place finish. He took some time to regroup then entered the High Roller with a chance for a double cash day.

On the other side, Joe McKeehen’s first shot at the High Roller fell short and the 2015 WSOP Main Event champ is trying again.

The High Roller took its first break of the day and returned with Joe Cada leading the way. He nearly 3x’d his stack over the first three levels and Anton Wigg is the closest with 200,000.

Joe Cada

A few more players joined up including Maria Ho and Joe McKeehen. The addition of McKeehen after he finished the Championship in 50th place, short of his first WPT title.

His inclusion in the High Roller also means that fully 20% of the field has a WSOP Main Event bracelet. McKeehen (2015 WSOP Main Event Champion) joined Joe Cada (2009) and Ryan Riess (2013) and we might have another one waiting in the wings.

The High Roller field is moving north and growing as we move deeper into the afternoon hours. There are two tables running and a few players in the Championship peeking over to see what’s going on.

Brock Wilson took a seat after the start and ready to ride his heater. He earned more than $1,000,000 in the last two months of 2019 including a $300,000 score in our RRPO High Roller, finishing second to Bryn Kenney.

The WPT LHPO Championship is moving on to Day 3 with only 54 players. That means we have a lot of players looking for more action and none is bigger than our $25K High Roller kicking off at noon.

The two-day tournament has a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and a lot of interest from the big names in South Florida.

High Rollers will start with 100,000 stacks and play 40-minute levels. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 10 at 8 pm following the 90-minute dinner break. They’ll return and continue playing until the eight-handed final table is set for tomorrow.

We expect a very talented field this afternoon and look forward to seeing who makes a big splash.
