Event 11 of the 2021 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open was a $400 Omaha 8/Stud 8 (Freeze-Out). A field of 93 entries generated a prize pool of $31,620, making this the third-largest Omaha 8/Stud 8 tournament in an SHRP major. Emerging victorious was Ziya Rahim, winning outright for $9,065.

This marked Rahim’s second SHRP major trophy, having previously won a H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2016 SHRPO.

We have an even 50 players in the Omaha 8/Stud 8 game. There are some tough players in the mix but they are having a good time. It’s a tight-knit group that enjoys this mix.

Some familiar faces include three-time WSOP bracelet winner (and Event 3 runner-up) “Miami John” Cernuto and four-time SHRP winner David Shmuel along with Allen Kessler, Errol Massey, Brian Gelrod, and Trung Pham.

We’re putting more non-hold’em games in the Seminole Ballroom today, this time mixing it up between Limit Omaha 8 and Seven-Card Stud 8. The $400 buy-in tournament will switch between the two every eight hands and players will have to show talent in both to win.

They’ll start with 12,000 stacks and all levels will last 30 minutes during this one-day tournament. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 8:30 pm but no re-entries are allowed in this freeze-out format.

We expect a small field but tougher one this afternoon and later into the evening at the final table.
