With the quick action to start the day, someone needed to pick up all those chips. They are being distributed to players throughout the room but returning Day 2 chip leader is picking up his fair share.

He began the day with 638,000 but added more than 400K over the first level and change to put his stack up to 1,087,000 as we quickly head into the late stages of the tournament.

With the clock ticking down on the first level of the day, Event 1 dropped down to 137 players to put them on the money bubble. Tournament staff announced for dealers to hold up after their current hand before beginning the hand-for-hand process.

Eric Rivera

There were 36 players coming in with max late registration and their first order of business would be to build a workable stack. Eric Rivera was one of those players and already up a bit from his 30K stack when he saw Paul Valenzu open to 10,000 from the hijack and Phil Hui three-bet to 32,000 from the cutoff.

Rivera moved all in for 52,000 from the small blind, Valenzu folded, and Hui called.

Rivera: AdKh
Hui: Ac6h

Rivera was in good shape for a double, both flopped an ace on the AhQs4s board, but Rivera was still ahead with his kicker. It finished with the 8s turn and 4h river and Rivera doubled up with aces up queen kicker.

Eric Rivera – 122,000 (31 bb)
Phil Hui – 128,000 (32 bb)
