May Deep Stacks Series in Review

Joseph Bartholdi was the Deepest Stack champ

The May Deep Stack Poker Series has become a tradition in South Florida, a series over the last two weekends of the month with a ton of chips and slow structures. The entire schedule had plenty of room to make moves and our players responded in big numbers.

The series featured nine tournaments over 12 days with $660,000 in guarantees. We had 3,169 entries during that time and they created prize pools worth $1,433,520.

Joseph Bartholdi

The last weekend of the May Deep Stack Poker Series rolled out the $1,700 Deepest Stack tournament and it had a great turnout of 418 entries. Joseph Bartholdi took the lead late in the tournament and went wire-to-wire at the final table to win the tournament outright for $125,025.

The tournament featured three starting flights and a $300,000 guarantee. Our players combined to more than double that number and create a prize pool worth $627,000.

Day 2 played late into the evening on Sunday night and the final table nine returned on Monday to play for the title. Bartholdi was the lead to start the final table and he had all the chips when it was done.

Bartholdi took home $125,025 and that was good enough for the second biggest cash of his career, the WPT Champions Club member earned $3.4 million for winning the $25K Five Diamond title in 2006.

Congrats to Joseph and thanks to all of our players for a fantastic tournament!

Mohammadian was behind but drawing live for another double.

“I’m feeling this one,” Mohammadian said. “Right on the flop.”

Despite his confidence, it was Bartholdi improving on the Jd6c3c flop. His paired jack turned into trip jacks on the Jh turn and Mohammadian was drawing dead to the 6h river.
