$1,100 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100

With most of the attention on the looming bubble in Event 9, there are some heavy hitters in the small, talented Event 12 field.

The $1,100 price tag on the event is one of the biggest of the series and 50 entrants are already in the field as the move into the second hour, aiming to top the $75,000 guarantee.

They are sitting at a handful of tables in the back corner and include Nancy Birnbaum, Abbey Daniels, Angel Vu, Darren Stabinski, Elliott Zaydman, Larry Klur, and Raminder Singh.

Still plenty of time to get in the game and there will be some big money on the line when they return tomorrow.

14SHRPO Event 12 Daniel Weinman

RECAP
Eighteen players answered the challenge of Event 12 – the $2,200 Eight Game Mix.  When the dust settled the Day 2 Final Table with six player starting it off, Daniel Weinman ended up taking the title in a three-way chop.  Weinman received $16,000 along with a beautiful Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open trophy, a custom framed photograph with an event information plaque and commemorative pin provided by IMPDI.

The day started out with John Racener as the chip leader and Robert Campbell close behind Steven Wolansky in third.  But the early levels were not kind to either Racener or Campbell.  By the first break, the two of them found themselves on the short stacks and could not come back as Campbell fell in sixth and Racener, the 2010 WSOP Main Event runner-up, soon followed in fifth.

As play wore on, Daniel Weinman sat by himself on one side of the table and the chips started to move there as well.  By the time the players had reached the next break, Weinman had accumulated a third of the chips in play.  Then Weinman turned up the heat. Picking his spots well, Weinman played very aggressively forcing Brandon Delnano, Steven Wolanksy and John Thrower to choose to play big pots against him or battle it out with each other.

His strategy succeeded as his opponents had to turn on each other and with the elimination of Delnano losing a 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball hand 2h3d5h6h9d to Steven Wolansky’s 2s4d5d7h8h, the three of them immediately stopped, agreed to chop the prize pool extending money to third place and ending the tournament.

After the tournament, a pleased Weinman discussed his strategy.  “The big bet games are specialties and they were playing big.  It seemed like the other guys were trying to avoid playing big pots in those and I took advantage.  The other guys were playing too tight even though we were still one spot to the bubble.  I knew were going to chop at three and it worked out.”

The 26 year-old plans to immediately hit the golf links, possibly enter the six-max on Tuesday and then is ready to fire some bullets in the Main Event.  After the series, Weinman also faces a major challenge – playing a 10k tennis match using a frying pan against a 65 year-old friend.

Congratulations to Daniel Weinman – Event 12 Champion!

MAIN EVENT SCHEDULE AND RESULTS

Event 12: Daniel Weinman Wins In 3-Way Chop

$2,200 Eight Game Mix
Level 16: Limits 3000/6000
2-7 Triple Draw Lowball

After nearly six hours of play, the remaining three players decided it was time to end it.

After the elimination of Brandon Delnano, the players stopped play and agreed to a chop giving chip leader Daniel Weinman the title.

Weinman’s steady play led him to holding around 60% of the chips before the deal was made.   Weinman was constantly applying pressure to the other players when the opportunities arose forcing the others to either play big pots or get out the way.  The tactic worked forcing Steven Wolansky, John Thrower and Brandon Delnano into battling each other to stay alive.

The players agreed to give Weinman $16,000 and the title along with the beautiful Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open trophy and a custom framed 16×20 photograph provided by IMPDI.

Steven Wolansky officially finishes second winning $13,500 and John Thrower takes third for $6,500.
