Limit Hold ‘Em

With four players remaining, John Thrower had mostly had a quiet afternoon. But that all changed as he became the focal point of the action this level.

Early in the level with Brandon Delnano at risk in a Stud Hi-Lo hand with Thrower and Steven Wolansky, all three stayed in the hand until the river. Delnano fired his final bet, Wolansky finally folded and Thrower called.

Thrower showed a pair of 6’s with A-2-3-4-6 but was stunned when Delnano showing 4sJc5dQh turned over A-2-3 for the wheel and scooped leaving Thrower now on the short stack.

But Thrower turned it around in 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball. He survived with a 3-5-6-7-8 when Dan Weinman was drawing one with 3-5-6-8 but got a 10 to give Thrower the double-up. Thrower then won two more hands in the 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball round and put himself back in contention for this Eight Game Mix title.

Razz

A chip lead to start the day went downhill for John Racener and this Razz round ended his day in Event 12.

The chips started getting pushed in with Racener showing 6d7c and chip leader Dan Weinman with 4d4s. After Racener paired his 7 and bet, Weinman put him all-in catching a 5d. The cards were turned up and both had huge Razz draws:

Racener: 2s3s6d7c7d
Weinman: As3s4d4s5d

Both needed one card to complete. Racener got a Jh and missed but Weinman did not catching the 2c for the nut low and sent Racener to the rail. Four players remain with only two cashing here in Event 12.

Even catching quads wasn’t enough to keep Robert Campbell alive.

In the Limit Hold ‘Em on Level 13, Campbell survived a flush draw from Steven Wolansky hitting quad aces on the river to keep him in the tournament. But the next hand brought another showdown between him and Wolansky.

Campbell: AdQs
Wolansky QdQc

A 4dKd6hJd board left Campbell with outs but the Jc turned up on the river and ended Campbell’s run in this event.

Stud

John Racener’s bad luck continued in Level 11 in the Stud round. Racener showing AsQs6s2s was a little befuddled after Robert Campbell stayed in the pot with 10d6c4h2d. After the final card was dealt and Campbell made one more call on Racener, Racener showed only a pair of queens and Campbell showed 10-6 for two pair and took the pot.

Play has now started on Level 12 – Limits 1200/2400.

One more time, for all the chips. The final six players in Event 12 are back in the ballroom but only two of them will be celebrating in the end. The 8-game mix tournament drew 18 players for a small, but talented field.

There wasn’t a soft spot to be found on any of the tables with Huck Seed, “Miami John” Cernuto, Shirley Rosario, Jared Jaffee, and Nick Kost among the great players to start the tournament but fail to advance into Day 2.

John Racener, 2010 WSOP Main Event runner-up, will kick off the final table with the chiplead but the two players close on his tail have some results of their own.

Steven Wolansky is second in chips and coming off a great summer at the WSOP when he won his first career bracelet along with seven cashes. Robert Campbell won the PLO/8 tournament during the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Showdown, finished on the final table of the PLO/NLH event this series, and finished 30th this summer in the WSOP Main Event for $230,487.

Stay tuned for live updates from start to finish for this stacked final table.
