Event 17: Gold gets a fold

$5,300 Championship NLH $10 Million Guaranteed (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 250/500/ 75

14SHRPO Event 1 Jamie Gold
Jamie Gold

On a board showing 9d2dJh3h, we find 2006 WSOP world champ Jamie Gold all-in for about 11K from late position. His opponent in seat 2 goes into the tank for a while, so much so that the floor was called in to start the clock on him. He eventually decides to muck, and shows his Jd face up…saying that he folded AJ. Gold then tells his opponent that he made a good fold, as he flips over one of his cards…the As.

After some prodding from the player in seat 2, Gold eventually flips over his other hole card…the Ah for pocket Aces. Gold rakes in the pot.

Gold won the largest WSOP Main Event field in history with 8,773 players, as well as the largest 1st place prize in Main Event history at $12 Million.
