Charity Series of Poker $330 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
The money bubble has burst at the Charity Series of Poker event at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. Melissa Castello and Scott Efron both busted on the money bubble, so they chopped up the 18th place prize money of $487. There are now 17 players that remain in the hunt.
We caught up with Scotty Nguyen (pictured above left) during the pre-party for the Charity Series of Poker at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open tonight, and he shared his thoughts about the event.
On charity tournaments: “The main thing when you play for charity is you want to raise money for people that need it. When I decide to play something like this I can help draw in players. So there is more money in the prize pool for people that need it.”
On playing events at the Seminole Hard Rock: “It’s fun here, I like this tournament because you buy-in one time.”
On single-entry tournaments: It’s do or die baby. Bad players with money take chances, and if they don’t get there they just buy-in again. The best player wins at this tournament.”

We caught up with local professional poker player Tristan Wade (pictured above right) during the Charity Series of Poker event and here are some of his thoughts about the fun evening.
On the atmosphere of the CSOP event: “It’s super fun, there’s a huge turnout. A lot of people are having a blast. The pre-party was awesome. The hors d’oeuvres were incredible and it was a nice bar. I just really enjoyed the company of everybody.”
On buying his Mom into her first tournament: “I got to bring my parents. I bought my Mom into the tournament. This is the first tournament she has ever played. I gave her some tips, but when I walked over to her I saw her play Jack-Six offsuit and that wasn’t in any of the tips I gave her. The reason I bought her in is that she took me to a Habitat For Humanity event in our city of Boynton Beach [Florida] to help build a house, so I wanted to return the favor.”
On playing events at the Seminole Hard Rock: “It’s a home court advantage for me absolutely. The thing I like the best is the people at the Hard Rock really care about poker. You won’t see that at a lot of places. People put effort into poker but not like this, the Hard Rock is going all out and it’s incredible.”
Before the CSOP tournament began, there was a CSOP Kick-off Party at the L Bar at the Seminole Hard Rock. The gathering was open to all players registered for the tournament and featured hors d’oeuvres from Kuro, specialty drinks, and giveaway prizes worth more than $5,000 (listed below). Registration has now closed in the Charity Series of Poker event at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. There are a total of 232 players and the prize pool is $64,960. The full payout structure will be released soon. There are currently 87 players still in the field and the top 18 will cash.
