$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack
Blinds: 1K/2K Ante 200
Earlier we talked about Norman Guigui having a good sized stack – probably good enough for the chip lead. As is often the case with early chip leaders though that good run has come to an end as Norman has just given away over 125K, which is substantial for this point in the tournament.
On the first hand, Haim Toorgeman raised first to act and a short stack moved all in for approximately 25K. Norman re-raised to 50K and Haim folded. The short stack held 5’s and Norman A-J. The board ran out to give the short stack a much needed double. Haim said “it’s a good thing he raised, I had Ace King and would have busted you.” Good thing indeed the short stack was probably thinking.
The second hand saw Guigui open to 8K only to see himself get re-raised by the small blind to 31K. Guigui made the call and the flop came . The small blind checked and attempting to steal the pot, Norman made a bet of 50K. The small blind had a what the hell look on his face and pushed his entire stack into the middle. Guigui had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar but it was only 20K more to call so he did just that. The small blind turned over pocket 10’s and Norman had . The turn gave the small blind a set but it also gave Guigui some outs as it was the giving him an open ended straight/royal flush draw. The river was the though and 100K of Norman’s chips were sent across the table.
