The first Friday of the series is here and we head into the meat of the schedule with the next two flights of the opening tournament. Event 1 drew more than 1,000 entries over the first two yesterday and they will only get bigger as we move into the weekend.

Players start with 20,000 deep stacks and all Day 1 levels last 30 minutes, increasing to 40 minutes at the start of Day 2 and going up to 60 after Level 24. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 2:30 pm.

Flight C will continue until only 12.5% of the field remains and those players will advance to Day 2 on Sunday at 1 pm in the money.

Event 3 of the 2023 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open was a $150 Big Stack No-Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry). A field of 320 entries generated a prize pool of $37,760, easily surpassing the $30,000 guarantee.

A four-way chop took place at the final table, and as the chip leader it was Joseph Burns who was the official winner for $4,845.

Event 4 of the 2023 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open was a $400 Deep Stack Turbo NLH (Re-Entry). A field of 34 entries created a prize pool of $11,560.

Winning the lion’s share was Javier Gomez Marquez, taking it down outright for $4,740.

On the first day of the 2023 Lucky Hearts Poker Open, the first trophy of the series was awarded in Event #2, $400 H.O.R.S.E.

There were 109 entries, and the tournament ended when the final three players agreed to a deal. As chipleader, Mark Hurst was awarded the trophy and the title.

“I’ve probably made seven or eight mixed-game final tables here,” said Hurst. “I’ve finished second and chopped a couple, but I hadn’t got an actual trophy yet. So it feels good to win my first.”

“I wanted my first trophy here to be in H.O.R.S.E. specifically,” said Hurst. “I really try to specialize in the H.O.R.S.E rotation.”

Hurst would like to see more players give mixed games a try.

“I encourage other no-limit hold’em players to learn the games and give it a shot,” said Hurst. “They might actually like it. Sometimes no-limit hold’em can get a little old, so it’s nice to switch it up and do something different.”

Hurst lives here in South Florida, and said that Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood is his “favorite place to play.”

“Everyone from the floor guys to the dealers is top notch,” said Hurst. “I’m really lucky to be able to come here. I’ve been to all the poker rooms in Vegas, and played the other tournament series, and I enjoy this one the most.”

Hurst finished his post-game interview with an optimistic look forward.

“I hope to win some more trophies before the series is over.”
