Event 10 ($240 HORSE) Ends in a 5-Way Chop

While the Money Bubble was in progress in the massive field for Event 7, Event 10 ($240 HORSE) quietly came to an end with a five-way chop.

Chipleader Jason Like was awarded the trophy and $4,999 in prize money.

It may be a while before we can provide more details of who finished where, because the payout desk is currently swamped with the flurry of bustouts from Event 7. We’ll get the data and post it here as soon as things calm down a bit for the tournament staff.

Correction: There was some miscommunication in the results earlier, but they’ve been corrected.

Event 7 ($560 NLHE): Samuel Bernabeu Takes the Chip Lead as the Bubble Bursts

The money bubble lasted one hand and came in the form of a double elimination. One of the hands, though, resulted in a new chip leader emerging.

With the board reading As9c5s4c, a series of raises led to the player on the button all in for about 570,000 with 5d4d. Samuel Bernabeu, in the small blind, had him drawing dead with AcAd and secured the pot after the inconsequential 2c river completed the board.

The board reads 271 players remaining now and the blinds have increased to 6,000/12,000 with a 1,000 ante.

Samuel Bernabeu – 1,350,000 (112 bb)

Event 7 ($560 NLHE): Chipleaders Near the Money Bubble

The remaining 326 players have returned from their break to begin Level 20, with increased blinds of 5,000-10,000 and a 1,000 ante. The average chip stack is about 260,000 (26 big blinds).

We carefully scanned the field during the break to find all the chipleaders, and here they are:

1.  Chino Rheem  –  1,137,000  (113 bb)
2.  Michael Marrero  –  892,500  (89 bb)
3.  Alcides Gomez  –  830,000  (83 bb)
4.  Yaron Wasserman  –  807,000  (80 bb)
5.  Dave Mochon  –  790,000  (79 bb)

The final 300 players will finish in the money, guaranteed at least $1,169, and the next pay jumps are for 250th place ($1,220) and 200th place ($1,288).

First prize is $291,087, but even though the schedule indicates playing to a winner tonight, that seems highly unlikely. (We expect this to roll over to tomorrow.)

Event 7: Chino Chip Leading at the First Break

Level 17
Blinds: 2,500/5,000
Ante: 400

Picking up the action after the river of a Qc3h2h2c5s board with about 160,000 in the pot, Bryan Campanello check-called 100,000 from Chino Rheem.

Rheem tabled Ad2d for trips, Campanello mucked, and Rheem collected the pot.

Chino is now up to 807,500 and is the overall chip leader, while Campanello is down to about 115,000.

Event 7: Field Update

Action is in the middle of Level 17 (2,500/5,000 blinds with a 400 ante) and 520 players remain from today’s starting field of about 816 players. The average stack is about 151,000 and at the break, we’ll take a look for the big stacks around the room.

Day 1 chip leader Pedro “Pete” Rios is holding steady with about 420,000, while a few others have crossed the 400K mark, including David “Chino” Rheem with about 440,000.
