The last break of the day came to an end and players returned to their seats to play the last three levels of Flight B.

Defending champ Hector Pacheco leads the field with 499,000 with Ryan Hogan in second with 355,500. Sitting to Hogan’s left, Raul Jimenez is making a move to join them and returned to a stack worth 309,000.

Ryan Hogan

We have a new leader in the room and it’s the previously mentioned Ryan Hogan. Our fifth place finisher in this tournament last year built his stack up to 335,500 to hold the late lead.

The second biggest belongs to someone familiar. Hector Pacheco, defending champ, is up to 311,000 and it looks like a chunk of that came from previous leader Jay Romano who is down to 130,000.

Event 1 Day 1B: “Hollywood” in Hollywood

Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson

The Flight B entry count is on the verge of topping 300 for the day and the prize pool is closing on $200,000 for a double guarantee.

We found NFL legend Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson in the field, trying to add some hardware. While he is not the most decorated poker player in the field, that would be Phil Hui, he has one thing no one else in the room can claim. A Super Bowl ring.

Henderson was a linebacker on the Dallas Cowboys who won the Super Bowl in 1978.

Event 1 Day 1B: Jay Romano Still on Top

Jay Romano

Players returned from their dinner break and cards are back in the air. They will play six more levels today, with a break in the middle, before bagging up for Day 2.

Jay Romano is doing his best to go coast-to-coast this afternoon, holding the chip lead throughout the day and he’s still up top. In fact, both our two stacks at the second break are still the top two. Romano leads the field with 296,000 while Emberson Pieretti is next in line with 217,500.

Rafael Lima

Poker tournaments returned early in 2021 and Rafael Lima came storming out of the gates. The Poker Room regular won an Escalator Series tournament in February, earned a Poker Showdown Purple Chip Bounty trophy in April, and added a third title in this series.

He’s back this afternoon and trying to spin up a stack for another deep run.

Event 1 Day 1B: Ryan Hogan Back

Ryan Hogan

Last year this series drew massive numbers from start to finish and this tournament drew more than 1,100 entries with players from around the state and country.

Ryan Hogan was among the big crowd and in contention for the title late on Day 2. Until he ran into the biggest pot of the tournament at that stage. Hogan flopped two pair kings and queens against Hector Pacheco’s pocket aces. Running threes on the turn and river sent Pacheco the pot and eventual title. Hogan battled a short stack and finished in fifth place.
