Event 10 Day 1B: End of Play

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Day 1B of Event 10 crawled to a close with a slowdown in eliminations and an impressive 44 players will return to play Day 2, joining the 26 who survived Day 1A. There was a shocking lack of drama from start to finish with the exception of a few big hands. Russell Dohan finished the day with the chiplead, bagging up 322,300 for the day and closely followed by Nigel Murray with 240,000.

Official chips counts will be posted once the official numbers are released.

Blinds: 1.2k/2.4k/300 ante

Play has slowed down compared to other Day 1 flights and 54 players still remain with one more 30-minute level left in the day. The current chipleader looks to be Nigel Murray who is sitting at an interesting table which includes former Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open” final table members Leon “Benny” Benmargui and Derrick Simon. Murray sits on almost 250,000 if he can hold on to them.

Players are on their final break of the day but not before Juliet Yarina lost a big pot against the 7-seat at her table. It was heads-up to the KhTd7h flop and the 7-seat was all-in and almost out the door.

He turn over top pair KsQc but with only a 17% chance to win the hand when he saw Yarina’s KdTs for top two. He was stuck looking for a Queen or running straight cards which started with the 9s turn followed by the Jd river.  It was a big double up leaving Yarina with ~75,000.

Event 10 Day 1B: Chopping Queens

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Blinds: 800/1.6k/200 ante

Pocket Queens are a virtual coin flip against Big Slick but those odds are skewed more towards the Ladies when up against Big Slick times two. That happened at Table 37 in a +100,000 pot and the math didn’t matter.

The 2-seat and 3-seat were all-in preflop with AcKd and AsKs up against QdQc and even with the reduced outs, they both hit the KcTc3s flop. The Td turn just about locked up the hand and the 7d river chopped up the Queens.

The field lost one entire table over the last level with 90 remaining and three more levels for the day.

Event 10 1B: 99 Problems

$300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack

Blinds: 600/1.2k/200 ante

Down to 11 tables in the field and #100 went out in a blaze of glory. The 7-seat on Table 32 has a smile on his face as he fired bets on all streets and the 1-seat came along the entire way. He was showing now feat of the Ace-high flop or the board have three hearts by the river.

He put in his last 11,000 chips and the 1-seat finally took his time to make a decision. After a good 5-minute tank, he said “I think you’re full of (redacted).” The 1-seat rolled over 3h3d which turned out to be a hero call. The 7-seat tried to muck his hand but they have rules here about all-in players showing their cards. The dealer turned over the almighty Hammer 7s2h and he was playing the board to get us to 99.

Two faces in room since the move upstairs are Juliet Yarina and Leon “Benny” Benmargui, among the recently departed was Zach Kessler who joined his father Jeff on the rail.
