Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Sheddy Siddiqui is back on the Hollywood felt looking for another deep run in this event. Last year, he chopped heads up with Scott Heiligman earning his second largest score to date — $110,000.

After coming up short of a bag in yesterday’s Flight B, South Florida residents Daniel Pearlman and Michael Newman are giving it another go here in Flight C. The pair shares Table 35 occupying Seat 1 and 9 respectively. While Newman is a nine-time Seminole Hard Rock tournament winner, Pearlman, who owns two World Series of Poker Circuit gold rings, is in search of his first South Florida win.

“The blow pop was a dollar,” Newman was overheard saying to tablemate Charlemagne Benjamin giving him a hard time for his sucker.

The 109th Flight C entry came during first break officially pushing the prize pool past the $500,000 mark with combined field of 342. At present, the kiddie sits at $513,000, but that figure is expected to grow throughout the day and overnight with late registration available until the start of Day 2 tomorrow at 12-noon.

With 50,000 starting chips (currently 166 big blinds) Flight C players are deep and no one has really separated themselves from the field in the first few levels. We’ll take a look at some of the notable and familiar faces in the event throughout the day.

Steve Karp had 38,000 in the middle and was all-in on a board. Frederico Dabus, who had him covered by just by a couple hundred chips, called.

Defending champion Scott Heiligman hit the rail and his seat is now filled with one of the $1,650’s newest entries, John DePersio. DePersio has already had success in the Deep Stack Series, finishing seventh in the $560 for $8,246.

He’s a (very) late entry here in Flight B and currently sits at just above 50,000 chips with the big blind at 2,400.
