Jeremy Santinoff

Action is back underway for the last three levels of Flight A. They broke a table when they came back to leave 81 around with a chance to bag.

Jeremy Santinoff is your new frontrunner sitting right at 200,000. That’s good enough for the lead with Jeff Kessler (185,000), Richard Davis (178,000), Nabil Bassil (170,000), and Jacquelyn Scott (135,000) among the notable contenders.

It’s not all serious business in the Event Center today. Jason Young and Michael Newman, two of our most recent major winners, have been sitting together most of the day and the laughs can be heard non-stop across the room.

“You run so bad here!” Young needled the Ultimate Re-Entry winner.

“I’m wrong,” Young laughed. “You win everything here but nothing outside of Florida.”

Newman took it all, laughed, and gave some right back. It’s easy to have fun for Newman and his 135,000 puts him among the leaders.

We are heading towards the end of registration in Flight A and they cracked 300 entries with plenty of time to spare. Michael Newman recently joined his new table and he grabbed a seat next to the previously mentioned Jason Young.

Newman has plenty of SHRP wins including his run as the 2017 Rock ‘N’ Roller Poker Champion. In more recent news, he kicked off his Lucky Hearts Poker Open series with a win in the Ultimate Re-Entry opening event. Newman followed that big score with his first WSOP Circuit ring in the $400 Coco WSOPC turbo event.

Jason Young

The last time we saw Jason Young in a major Hollywood tournament, he was the one posing for the trophy pictures.

He is having a pretty decent start to his 2019. The WSOP bracelet winner began the 2019 SHR Lucky Hearts Poker Open with a final table appearance in the massive 4,500-field Ultimate Re-Entry starting event and bookended his series with a $263,000 win as the WPTDeepStacks Hollywood champion.

Young carried that success up the road to our sister room in Coconut Creek for the WSOP Circuit series. He went deep in the Main Event and a two-outer denied another title but that third-place finish put another $111,000 in his bankroll.

Nancy Birnbaum

South Florida is not short on poker talent and it is not gender-specific. The area seems to contain some of the best female players in the game and they continue to run up the scores. Jennifer David was the most recent to make a big run when she finished third out of 1,537 entries in the Seminole Turnpike series for more than $30,000.

But they had to start somewhere and this weekend we have a great learning opportunity for some of our beginners. Prior to the $10,000 Guarantee Ladies Event, we are hosting an Instruction Brunch with WPT Commentator Tony Dunst giving a 90-minute rundown on the game. It starts at 11:30 and it will be a great warmup before the Ladies Event kicks off at 3pm. You can sign up in the poker room but entry is limited to the first 50 who join.

Brian Hastings (left) and Michael Tureniec (right)

The entry count quickly jumped over 100 after the start of the day and the luck of the draw put to of the toughest players next to each other.

Brian Hastings and Michael Tureniec are sitting next to each other and they have nearly $8,000,000 in combined earnings (that’s just live poker, both have huge results online) along with five WSOP bracelets.

Tureniec also has two SHRP trophies including the WPTDeepStacks Immokalee title we hosted. Hastings has four of the five combined bracelets and is a danger in any tournament he enters. But Hastings is running on short rest today after recently returning from his honeymoon.
