As has become tradition, we close out every big series with a smaller buy-in multi-flight tournament geared towards our loyal regulars. The $150 buy-in tournament had a great turnout and local Neal Corcoran walked away with the title for more than $11,000 after a five-way deal.

Event 24 featured a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool and they nearly hit it in the first flight. The two starting sessions combined to put $77,400 up for grabs when registration closed with 645 entries.

We saw 62 of them return for Day 2 in the Poker Room and they quickly made the money before the first break. The tournament was down to the final table bubble by the second break and there on the first hand back.

Corcoran returned for Day 2 with the chip lead, held it most of the day, but traded it with several players including Richard Whitebrook who won this event during the Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open when it had six starting flights.

Multiple SHRP champ Sean Shah hit the rail in sixth place, Corcoran retook the lead, and the five remaining players decided to divide up the remaining prize pool. Corcoran took the title with the chip lead along with $12,155.

This is the third biggest cash for Corcoran after a fifth-place finish in December’s Seminole Turnpike Series and 17th place in the 2016 Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open Championship.

The five remaining players played most of Level 27 with only one major pot that saw Neal Corcoran take a pot from Richard Leger with a timely river. He moved into the lead, Leger dropped to second, and they decided to look at the ICM numbers.

The math was run and all agreed to the adjusted payout numbers with Corcoran taking the lion’s share of $12,155 as the leader. The remaining prize pool was divided this way:

Shah had two live cards but blanked the board to exit in sixth place.

Daniel Perez open-shoved for 570,000 and it folded to Dave Phillips in the big blind. He called with a slightly bigger stack and they flipped up their cards.

It was three-ways to a flop and Sean Shah bet 100,000. Richard Whitebrook called on the button and Neal Corcoran folded from the big blind. Both players checked the turn and Shah checked the river.

Whitebrook announced 300,000, Shah called, then quickly mucked when Whitebrook showed the case ace for quads.

Eric Kolodny opened to 145,000 from early position and Neal Corcoran called. It made it around to Richard Whitebrook and he moved all in for ~1,300,000. Kolodny shipped for a similar stack and Corcoran flashed as he folded.

Eric Kolodny moved all in from early position for 550,000 and it folded around to Jose Ruiz in the small blind. He called, Richard Whitebrook folded his big, and Kolodny was at risk.

Kolodny was in a lot of trouble and the flop did him no favors. The turn left Kolodny looking for two outs to double and he got it on the river.

Richard Leger was sitting with less than ten big blinds and he found a quick, small double through Neal Corcoran. One hand later, Corcoran opened to 85,000 from the button, Sean Shah called in the small blind, and Leger ripped for 620,000 from the big.

Corcoran folded and Shah went in the tank. After two minutes, he called and Leger quickly tabled his hand.
