Event 5 of the 2024 Seminole Hard Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open was a $600 Eight-Game Mix (Re-Entry), drawing 55 entries for a prize pool of $28,600. Taking it down was Phil Hui, winning in a three-handed deal for $9,000 and his ninth SHRP major series trophy.

A short-stacked Brian Gelrod completed all in for 8,000 and was called by Phil Hui and Walter.

Hui bet with the best board the entire way and Walter folded on sixth street.

Hui showed , while Gelrod showed and still had a chance. Hui, however, picked up a on seventh street to make an eight-six to lock up the land, eliminating Gelrod in fourth place.

Omaha Hi-Lo

A.J. Kelsall ran his short on the bubble to a solid 8 big bets or so, but lost much of his stack in Omaha Hi-Lo in a hand to Phil Hui when Hui went runner-runner to make a flush, leaving Kelsall with 37,000.

On his final hand, Kelsall raised all in for 37,000 under the gun and was called in three spots.

The flop came , Steve Bessette bet 20,000 from the small blind, Brian Gelrod folded in the big blind, and Hui called in the cutoff.

The turn was the , Bessette bet 40,000, and Hui folded.

Bessette tabled for trip queens and has Kelsall’s drawing dead, ending Kelsall’s comeback in fifth place.

Brian Gelrod limped in 12,000 in the cutoff, Gabe Ramos raised to 24,000 on the button, A.J. Kelsall (who chipped up from his 9,000) reraised all in for 33,000 in the small blind, and Gelrod folded.

Both took one on the first draw, both drew one again on the second draw, and Kelsall stood pat on the final draw while Ramos drew one.
