Event 11: Bounty!

$250 Black Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 8: Blinds 300/600/75

They put a little twist on Event 11 and it’s juicing up the action. Each buy-in takes $110 out for the prize pool and puts another $100 bounty on the player.

Instead of “seat open!” calls from dealers, we’re now hearing “bounty!”. Players just need to knock out a few players and they’re already freerolling the tournament.

A few of the 170 entrants already registered are Errol Massey, Michael Ortiz, Igor Skochko, and Carolyn Zegeer.

RECAP
After a long day of grinding, Carlos Loving (Sarasota, FL) maneuvers his way through a 122 person field to emerge as the victor of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open event 11. This one-day event was a freeze-out, so there were no re-entries, which kept the field size to a manageable number. The tournament started at 12 noon, and was finished just over 13 hours later.

Loving has been a professional poker player for the past 10 years. He plays mostly in the Florida area, but also travels to Las Vegas every summer for the WSOP. Loving is also a poker coach and owns his own poker training website. He started the final table with 5 big blinds and grinded his stack back into contention. One big hand at the final table that he remembers is rivering a Jack against two other players’ pocket pairs to triple up. The most significant hand for him at the final table though is when he went up against chip leader Ilias Liapis during 3-handed play. On a board of 3h8hJcAd3c, Loving checks then snap-calls the shove of Liapis.

Liapis: Jd8c
Loving: As3s

Loving rivers a full house of 3s over Aces to best the flopped 2 pair of Liapis and double up his stack. Liapis was eliminated shortly thereafter.

This is the 3rd tournament that Loving has played in the series. He plans on playing more tournaments at the SHRPO, including the $350 buyin $30K guaranteed 6-max tournament tomorrow.

With 122 players, the tournament more than met its $50k guaranteed prize pool. Event 11 generated a total prizepool of $61,000, including $24,400 in bounties.

MAIN EVENT SCHEDULE AND RESULTS

Event 11: We have a winner!

$560 Buy-In Double Black Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em Freeze-Out
Level 22: 6K/12K/2K ante

Carlos Loving
1st place – Carlos Loving

Heads Up play began with Carlos Loving having an overwhelming chip lead over his opponent James Sutherland. Sutherland would not give up, however, and kept hanging on…surviving all-in after all-in. After quite a long heads-up battle, Loving shoves all-in and Sutherland makes the call to put his tournament life at risk once again.

Sutherland: Ah4d
Loving: 3sKh

Sutherland’s Ace-high lead pre-flop doesn’t last long when the board runs 2hKcQd4h8h and Loving flops a pair of Kings to seal Sutherland’s fate. Sutherland finishes in 2nd place, making $6,844 after a hard day’s work.

Our Event 11 champion is Carlos Loving, taking home $12,079 for the win, the championship trophy, and a professionally framed winner’s portrait. Congratulations!

James Sutherland
2nd place – James Sutherland

Event 11: 3rd place – Liapis

$560 Buy-In Double Black Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em Freeze-Out
Level 21: 5K/10K/1K ante

Ilias Liapis
Ilias Liapis

On a flop of Js9h8d, Carlos Loving shoves and is eventually called by Ilias Liapis. They table their cards:

Liapis: Qc9s
Loving: KsKc

Fourth and fifth street bring the 4d3c and Liapis’ day comes to an end when his flopped pair of 9s loses to the pocket Kings of Loving. Liapis gets $4,538 for his 3rd place finish.

Event 11: 4th place – Maghraoui

$560 Buy-In Double Black Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em Freeze-Out
Level 21: 5K/10K/1K ante

Mohamed Moe Maghraoui
Maghraoui

Mohamed Maghraoui shoves and is called by Carlos Loving. They turn over their cards as follows:

Loving: As4h
Maghraqui: 3h3s

The board rolls out Kd4c9hQh10d and unfortunately Maghraoui’s day comes to an end when Loving catches his pair of 4s on the flop. Maghraoui gets $3,257 for his 4th place finish today.

Event 11: 5th place – Marks

$560 Buy-In Double Black Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em Freeze-Out
Level 20: 4K/8K/1K ante

Jonathan Marks
Jonathan Marks

Jonathan Marks is all-in and at risk against Ilias Liapis. Marks turns up the QcJd, but he sees the bad news when Liapis turns up his AsAh. The board runs out 8h7s7sQd9c and Mark’s turned pair of Queens is no good against Liapis’ pocket rockets. Marks takes home $2,379 for his work in Event 11 today.

Liapis is on quite a roll at this final table, having knocked out 4 players so far…and collecting all their bounties.
