The Seniors Event has moved into Level 8 leaving just a little more time to register. The field has drawn an impressive 84 entrants so far and a few of them have done a nice job running up their 10,000 starting stacks.

Bradley Younger – 43,425
Tevy Wellins – 32,775
Lawrence Bass – 26,100
Jack Deutsch – 22,825
Jeff Kessler – 18,375
Luis Santino – 12,100

Event 6: SodaBottaWaddaOxygen!

$300 Seniors (50+) No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 2:  Blinds 50/100

Looks like a very spry bunch playing in today’s Seniors event, despite the jokes going around.  Instead of “SodaBottaWaddaCoffee!” they’re calling for “SodaBottaWaddaOxygen!”

(Don’t think Jose can carry an oxygen tank on his very full tray.)

Among the mature crowd is Luis Santoni, winner of the HORSE event a couple of days ago.  Luis claims to be coming up on his 69th birthday early next year, but he has proven he can hang with the young guns!

Event 6: Seniors Step Up

$300 Seniors (50+) No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 1:  Blinds 25/50

Today’s next No Limit Hold’em event is for the mature crowd.  Players 50+ are taking to the felt, although the term “Seniors” is a bit extreme.

The mature crowd started with 10,000 chips and levels are 30 minutes long.  Late registration and re-entry are available until the start of level 9 (about 4:30pm).

This is a two-day event and Day 1 will end at 11pm or the final table, whichever comes first.  Day 2 is scheduled for 1pm Tuesday.

Cards are in the air!

RECAP
The 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Black Chip Bounty Pot Limit Omaha/No Limit Hold’em event played all the way to a conclusion in one day, as Kevin Ho emerged victorious over the field of 54 entrants.  The win garnered him first place prize money of $7,560 along with a beautiful Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open trophy and custom 16×20 framed photograph with event information plaque provided by IMPDI.

Second place and $4,104 went to Brad Young.  Victor Figueroa took 3rd place and $2,592.  Other notable cashes in this event:  Tuan “Tony” Pham, who finished 6th in his second cash of the series — he also cashed in Event 1, finishing 19th;  and Michael Wang, who booked his fourth cash and second final table of the series, finishing 9th.

This was also the first mixed-game tournament of this series and first main event to include bounties.  This event featured a mix of Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Hold’em, alternating every nine hands.  Each player received a $100 bounty for any player they knocked out of the tournament.

Fifty-four entrants created a total prize pool of $27,000.  Of this amount, $5,400 was paid out in bounties.  The remaining $21,600 was distributed to the final nine players as the prize pool.  Just over six hours in, the money bubble burst.  Then it took another five hours to get through the final table.

“I wasn’t even going to play,” Kevin Ho said.  “My friend [Tony][Pham] put me in.”  This is the first mixed game tournament Ho has ever played.  “I only play Hold’em, it’s actually my first time playing mixed, I’m a rookie” he said.  “I’m learning as I go.”

Ho started playing poker 13 years ago and honed his game online.  The nail technician from Homestead, FL, plans to stick around and play the $1 Million Guaranteed event later this week.  Referring to the Seminole Hard Rock, he said “They have the best tournament series in Florida.  I love it”.
