Event 8: Last Break

$560 Buy-In Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 13: 1k/2k/300

Players are off on their final break of the flight and less than 126 remain in the field. Tyler Patterson had a nice table to himself until he found two wizards took seats to his immediate left in Joe Kuether and Kevin Spires.

Those two are having a good day but Patterson hasn’t been having much luck today.

Some of the stacks around the room:

Henry Rondon – 144,700
Alan Reichsein – 120,800
Joseph Andrews – 110,200
Jean Elie – 109,400
Kevin Spires – 108,000
Joe Kuether – 104,200
Tyler Patterson – 35,700

Day 1C Level 12: 800/1600/200 Ante

On a board of 5h2hJd, Phillip Randazzo (Coconut Creek, FL) is in early position and faces a bet of 10k from Eugenio Castaneda (Port St. Lucie, FL). Randazzo doesn’t take long to shove his remaining stack of 39,800 into the middle.

Castaneda then goes into the tank for a couple of minutes before finally making the call.

Randazzo: QcQs
Castaneda: Jc8c

Fourth and Fifth streets are 4c6c, providing no help to Castaneda. Randazzo doubles up to a healthy stack with his pocket Queens holding up, and Castaneda takes a big hit.

Event 8: Igor Stays Alive

$560 Buy-In Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 11: 600/1200/200 Ante

We arrived to find Igor Skochilo extremely short-stacked pushing all-in.  His opponent quickly calls and says “Cowboys” showing a pair of kings.  Skochilo turns over pocket sevens and calls for the kings to be cracked.

Igor’s wish is granted with a 7 on the turn and Skochilo stays alive in Flight 1C with 171 players remaining.

Event 8: My Nothing’s As Good As Your Nothing

$560 Buy-In Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 9: 400/800/100 Ante

An interesting duel took place between Jose Aliva (Miami, FL) and Francis Margaglione (Davie, FL).

Five players limped in and got a 5c4s7h.  After a 2200 chip bet from Margaglione and a call from Avila, the 9c came on the turn.  This time Avila fired out and after some thought, Margaglione made the call.  With the 6c on the river, Aliva bet 15,200 and was insta-called by Margaglione saying “Straight” and shows As8h.  Avila quickly turned over 9d8s for the chop.

A frustrated Avila hit the table and complained Margaglione had called his bet on the turn with nothing and Margaglione then came back with telling Avila he stayed in with nothing on his bet after the flop.

Either way, both their nothings turned into something and the players would have be satisfied with sharing the hotly contested pot.

We found more poker superstars in the house!

First, we’re very happy to be joined here in Hollywood, FL by 2010 WSOP Main Event runner-up John Racener.  Racener is coming off a runner-up finish in Event #38 of the World Series of Poker losing a tough battle to German poker superstar George Danzer.

Next, Will Givens is in the field as well.  The Colorado native won his first WSOP bracelet in Event #45 and also took 4th in Event #33.

Finally, Matt Stout is also here.  Stout finished 5th in the 5 Million Dollar Guarantee here last spring and added three more WSOP cashes this year including a third place finish in Event #31.

Stout and The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open will also be hosting the Charity Series of Poker Big Stack Turbo No Limit Hold’em tournament which will take place on August 27th at 6p.m. with a $300 buy-in.  The tournament will benefit Habitat for Humanity International and Broward County.

TJ Shulman is a new face in the tournament but not the room. He failed at his Seniors Event final table prop bet and can now concentrate on his first choice tournament.
