Event 6: Nuts No Good?

$560 Black Chip Bount No Limit Hold’em / PLO (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 100/200

Bradley Young was the beneficiary of a timely river on the last hand at Table 57 while the rest of the field was on break. He was all-in against the 1-seat and Dimas Martinez after Martinez flopped the nut straight in PLO. Young was on a heart draw and missed the turn before hitting the river. He knocked one out for a bounty and moved up to 30,925 going off to a shortened break.

“I flopped the nuts,” Martinez told the room, “How did I lose?”

“That’s a silly question in PLO,” TJ Shulman laughed.

Top five break-time chip counts:

Michael Wang – 52,950
Wade Walker – 42,600
Kevin Ho – 35,875

Event 5D: Fire Away

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 150/300/25 ante

Three regulars dusted off their first stack in quick fashion and back with their second bullet of the day. Errol Massey walked into the room, said hello to everyone, and promptly picked up Kings his first hand only to run into Aces. He laughed it off and hit the registration desk.

Angel Vu and Nigel Murray didn’t make it out of the first hour on the first try and are now seated next to each other. The two talkative players battled early and it ended with Vu doubling through Murray when they were all-in pre-flop with TxTx versus 7s5s. Murray flopped bottom two but Vu flopped a Ten and rivered quads.

“My first quads!” Vu laughed.

$560 Black Chip Bount No Limit Hold’em / PLO (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

Event 6 has one of the more popular formats of the series with something for all tastes. It is a mix of No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha with a $100 bounty on each player. Everybody loves No Limit Hold’em, PLO brings out the action junkies, and the bounty bonus encourages a little more gamble than most tournaments.

Players begin with 12,000 stacks and 30-minute levels until the registration/re-entry period ends at the start of Level 7. They will switch to 40-minute levels at that point then play down to a winner.

The half-and-half event will be based on the number of hands played with the game switching from NLH to PLO and back again every nine hands.

Cards are in the air and we will be here all day with live updates.

Event 4: Angel’s Break Time Double

$1,100 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 1.5k/3k/500 ante

While the rest of the table was heading for their break, Angel Vu and Richard Leger were playing a huge hand.

Leger limped in early position and there were two callers before it reached Vu who raised it up. Leger was the only one to come along to the 4x3x3x flop and they soon had all their chips in the middle with Vu at risk.

Vu was ahead with JxJx against TxTx and stayed that way through the river.

“I don’t think he limps with Aces, Queens, or Jacks.” Vu explained.

The double through Leger plus the dead money in the pot pushed Vu to 215k, good enough for third position.

Votor Coelho – 374,000
Paul Domb – 223,500
Angel Vu – 215,000
Stuart Greenbaum – 182,000
Stuart Newman – 151,500
