Main Event Day 1A: First Break

Blinds: 75/150/25 ante

The deep stacked, big buy-in Main Event has not slowed down some of the players as the early action is moving quickly. Lius Santino is a regular in The Poker Room at Seminole Hard Rock and he is now firing his second bullet in the Main Event. He was walking downstairs and flashed the universal sign for busted out.

“Let’s try this again,” Santino said as he headed towards the cashier to buy back in.

We also found an empty which was once occupied by Seniors Event winner Jeff Kessler but were unable to find out his circumstances. Two players at his former table found hands worth taking into battle with AcAs against KdKs. They were both on their feet with the Aces looking happy and even more so on the Ad5h3h flop. That was the last of his joy as the dealer ran out the board 2d and 4h for a wheel on the board to chop it up.

Players are off on their first break of the day and the board is showing 184 entrants currently register with two more levels to get in the game or re-enter. The most recent entrant was former WSOP November Niner and WPT Champion David “Chino” Rheem.

Weekend players who drew Table 2 at the start of the Main Event will a little tougher path to the championship. Adam “Roothlus” Levy was the first to take his seat at the table and was joined minutes later by Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi in the 1-seat.

The two players have combined to win nearly $17 million in career tournament earnings with most of that on Mizrachi’s ledger. The Miami resident is a 3-time WSOP bracelet winner, 2-time WPT champion, and has recorded six tournament cashes of a $1 million or more.

Players continue to lineup at the cage to buy into the Main Event bringing the total entrants up to 168 midway through the second level.

Event 17: Willie Wiggins Wins

$120 + $30 No Limit Hold’em Double Stack Turbo

In one of the most amazing hands ever seen at The Poker Room at Seminole Hard Rock, all six players went all in pre-flop and it would be chip leader Willie Wiggins who would win the pot and the tournament when he would flop quad 7’s with 7-2 off suit. “I just felt lucky,” said Wiggins when asked why he made the call.

OK, that’s not really what happened but it sounds more exciting than saying the six remaining players made a chip count chop which gave Wiggins the win. Our final six and their payouts were as follows:

Blinds: 12K/24K/4K ante

Fred Sulayman moved all in first to act from the button and Willie Wiggins made the call from the small blind. Fred had Qs8s and would need some help against Willie’s pocket Jacks. The board would run out 9c8d2h5c3h to give Wiggins the hand and eliminate Sulayman in 7th place.

Event 17: Final Table

$120 + $30 No Limit Hold’em Double Stack Turbo

Blinds: 8K/16K/2K ante

The action is moving so fast it’s nearly impossible to keep up with. We hit our final ten and within a minute we’d lost two players, Cinda Goodale and Erwin Saltos, on the same hand. Erwin had Ad5c and Cinda had pocket 9’s. Erik Lester had more chips than them and AhKc. The board would run out Ks5d6hAc2d to give Lester the double knock out. Goodale finished in 10th for $277 and Saltos finished in 9th for $336.

A few moments later we would lose Andres Hernandez when he moved all in with Q-9 and was called by Willie Wiggins with pocket 7’s. A seven would flop for Wiggins to give him a set and end the tournament for Hernandez. He finished in 8th for $487.

The remaining seven players are:
