Not long ago, Phillip Hui got lucky to double through Allen Kessler Ax2x to Ax10x. Now, Hui has finished off his opponent.

It happened when Hui moved all in for around 175,000 from the hijack and Kessler, who barely had less than that, opted to call off from the button.

“You can have the rest of my chips,” Kessler said as the blinds both folded.

Kessler: AdKh
Hui: QcJd

“It’s not looking good, Allen,” someone at the table said when it was revealed Hui was drawing to two live cards.

“I’ve never beat this guy in my lifetime,” Kessler deadpanned.

The 8h3s9c flop kept Kessler in the lead, but it didn’t change his mood.

“Ten,” he said, pointing out Hui would make a straight with that card. Sure enough, the dealer burned and turned the 10c. The 2d was run out on the river and a frustrated Kessler took his leave from the tournament in 23rd place.

Phillip Hui – 390,000
Allen Kessler – Eliminated in 23rd Place

High Roller: John Racener Eliminated by Barry Hutter

$25,500 High Roller No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 17: 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 22 of 105

Barry Hutter opened with a raise in middle position, and John Racener three-bet shoved for just less than 300,000 next to act. Hutter called to put him at risk.

Hutter: AdKh
Racener: AxTx

The board ran out Jd8d7s4h3c, and Hutter’s kicker played to earn him the knockout pot. Racener was eliminated.

After the hand, Ben Heath was moved into Racener’s former seat to balance the tables.

Barry Hutter – 1,010,000 (63 bb)
John Racener – Eliminated

High Roller: Dan Colman Calls for the Chop

$25,500 High Roller No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 17: 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 22 of 105

Pablo Fernandez raised to 32,000 from middle position, Dan Colman three-bet to 90,000 from the small blind, Fernandez four-bet shoved for about 285,000, and Colman called.

Fernandez: 9d9h
Colman: 8d8c

The flop fell 10c10h6s, no help to Colman. The turn was the 6c, keeping Fernandez in the lead.

“Six,” says Colman.

The river was the 6d, giving both players sixes full of tens to chop the pot.

“It’s still 2014,” said Joseph Cheong.

“You are very lucky,” commented Ray Qartomy.

“He wasn’t greedy. Just calling for a six instead of an eight. He knows what he’s doing,” said Chance Kornuth.

Dan Colman – 980,000 (61 bb)
Pablo Fernandez – 300,000 (19 bb)

Event 24: Bad Beat Sends Asher Conniff to the Rail

Level 22: 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players: 26 of 828 players remaining

Asher Conniff
Asher Conniff

Asher Conniff got his stack of approximately 150,000 all in preflop and was in great shape to double against Carlo Rodriguez.

Conniff: 10c10h
Rodriguez: 2s2h

Conniff was primed to double as long as he could dodge a deuce and other such nonsense, but that proved easier said than done as the 4h3s2c flop hit Rodriguez.

He then took his leave from the tournament after the Ks blanked on the turn followed by the Qh on the river.

“Good luck,” Conniff offered before heading to the payout desk.

Carlo Rodriguez – 450,000
Asher Conniff – Eliminated

Neil Blumenfield

We missed the elimination of 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event third-place finisher Neil Blumenfield, but we learned some details after the fact.

Apparently Blumenfield moved all in under the gun holding Ax10x and Adam Krach called from the button holding AxJx. The board ran out clean and that was all she wrote for Blumenfield, who was sent out the door in 27th place.

Adam Krach – 565,000
Neil Blumenfield – Eliminated in 28th Place

Cate Hall

Aaron Massey opened for 35,000 and called when a short-stacked Cate Hall three-bet all in for 70,000.

Hall: KxQx
Massey: AxQx

Hall had a kicker problem and it didn’t get resolved as the board ran out clean.

Aaron Massey – 1.1 million

The board came down 6s3d2c7dQd, no help to Winter, locking up the pot for Petrangelo.
