Event 15: Sbrissa Doubles Thru Zaki

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)

Level 15:  Binds 1.200/2,400/400 Ante

Victor Sbrissa (bb) and Justin Zaki (utg+1) got to the turn with a board of AdKh7c2s and Sbrissa checked, Zaki fired 12,200, Sbrissa check-raised to 25,800.

Zaki tanked for a minute, then called.  River was the Tc and Sbrissa shoved for 30,800.  Zaki again gave it some thought before calling.  He showed AsKc for top two pair.

Sbrissa showed QcJh for Broadway, catching a 4-outer on the river.  “Oh My God” was all Zaki could say.   Roman Valerstein said “No justice in poker.”

Sbrissa doubled up to ~135k while Zaki’s stack dropped to ~30k.

Event 15: Kurshumi Gets Paid, Zaki and Konstantinos Double

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 15: 1200/2400/400 Ante

Level 15 has turned to already be as exciting as the last level was dull. Both Justin Zaki and Konstantinos Pantaridis have managed to double their short stacks but the big hand so far went to Ardit Kurshumi.

Kurshumi ended up in hotly contested hand with chip leaders John McDonald and Steele Sutter.

Facing a flop of Jc8s10c and the hand checked to him, Kurshumi bet out 18k and got calls from both of his opponents. The turn brought out the 8c putting a flush draw on the board. Once again, the hand was checked to Kurshumi who pushed the remainder of his stack in the middle.

After taking some time, McDonald made the call leaving Sutter with a huge decision. Sutter tanked for a couple of minutes and then folded leaving Kurshumi in for his tournament life on the bubble.

Kurshumi: 6c7c
McDonald: 9c9d

McDonald’s decision to chase the straight flush draw and full house did not pay off as he missed the river and Kurshumi raked in the massive pot. He is now one of the table leaders as this table still waits for the bubble to burst.

Event 15: Uneventful Level 14, Chip Counts

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1000/2000/300 Ante

As the bubble looms here in Event 15, the action has ground to a halt. With only one all-in and Joe Reddick getting no action on a flopped straight flush, the caution flag is out as these players all want to make sure to get their share of the $117,000 prize pool. John McDonald still holds the chip lead.

Here are the chip counts going into Level 15 with the blinds at 1,200/2,400 with a 400 Ante:

Seat 1: Michael Wang – 118,800
Seat 2: Konstantinos Pantaridis – 56,000
Seat 3: John McDonald – 296,700
Seat 4: Steele Sutter – 208,400
Seat 5: Ardit Kurshumi – 87,200
Seat 6: Joe Reddick – 167,200
Seat 7: Victor Sbrissa – 146,000
Seat 8: Roman Valerstein – 42,900
Seat 9: Justin Zaki – 46,000

Event 15: Bold Bubble Bluff By Reddick

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 13: 800/1600/200 Ante

Joe Reddick has been steady and deliberate through this entire tournament and this play showed his cool and calculating side.

With players on the bubble, Keller got in a hand with Victor Sbrissa. On a 2h4s5dJs board, Reddick had checked to Sbrissa who fired a bet to 26,500. After taking some time to consider his options, Reddick called.

The river brought a 7h prompting a check from Reddick. Sbrissa fired a bet of 44,500 and then shockingly Reddick went over the top pushing his stack all-in. Sbrissa went into the tank for a few minutes tensing up and counting out chips trying to make a decision. After a final look at his cards, Sbrissa put his head down and threw his cards into the muck.

Reddick then showed As9s for a busted flush draw and raked in the pot while Sbrissa said he had J-10.

Event 15: Down to Nine

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 13: 800/1600/100 Ante

Immediately after Matt Shepsky’s jacks lost to queens, Shepsky’s day came to a screeching halt.

This time, Shepsky found himself all-in against Justin Zaki with his tournament life on the line.

Zaki: AhQc
Shepsky 6c5h

Shepsky had some help on a 8sJh7d flop but got no help from the rest of the 8h3s board and exited Event 15 in 10th Place.

The field has now been consolidated to one nine-player unofficial final table. With one more elimination, the event will be in the money and a final table set.

Event 15: Cooler Turns to Ice Box

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 13: 800/1600/200 Ante

A classic cooler hand got downright frigid.

A raise from Matt Shepsky to 4,800 saw a re-raise by Victor Sbrissa to 12,000. Shepsky went over the top to 36,000, Sbrissa went all-in and Shepsky called.

Sbrissa: QsQh
Shepsky: JdJs

With Sbrissa in the lead and Shepsky looking for a jack, the flop came out Kd10cAd leaving each player now rooting for the other player’s card to hit the straight. The Jc came on the river and the card Shepsky had wanted to see before the board ran out ends up being the one to cripple him leaving him with around 26,000.

Event 15: Pantaridis Doubles on Last Hand Before Break

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 12: 600/1200/100 Ante

On the last hand before the break, Konstantinos Pantaridis tangled with the chip leader and got away with it.

After pre-flop betting by Pantaridis and John McDonald, the flop brought out a 6s8h7d board.  McDonald fired away, Pantaridis went all-in and was called.

McDonald 7s5c
Pantaridis AhAc

With top pair and the up-and-down straight draw, McDonald hoped for a card to end Pantaridis’s day but the Ks and 6d would not do it and Pantaridis picked up a much-needed double-up.

Players are now on break headed to Level 13.

Event 15: Wang Doubles Up, Karim Eliminated

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 12: 600/1200/100 Ante

Patience may be wearing thin as Michael Wang decided to take a stab and go over the top all-in to Steele Sutter’s re-raise.  Sutter made the call and the hands were turned up.

Yang: 10c10h
Sutter: AdJh

Wang took an even bigger lead on the Td9c2h flop. Sutter picked up outs on with the 8d on the turn but Wang held on with a harmless 4h on the river. Yang doubled to around 75k.

In the meantime, Zo Karim took his final stand but couldn’t hang on and is out of this Event 15 in 11th Place leaving ten players still standing for the $38,609 first place prize.
