Event 15: Cooler Turns to Ice Box

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 13: 800/1600/200 Ante

A classic cooler hand got downright frigid.

A raise from Matt Shepsky to 4,800 saw a re-raise by Victor Sbrissa to 12,000. Shepsky went over the top to 36,000, Sbrissa went all-in and Shepsky called.

Sbrissa: QsQh
Shepsky: JdJs

With Sbrissa in the lead and Shepsky looking for a jack, the flop came out Kd10cAd leaving each player now rooting for the other player’s card to hit the straight. The Jc came on the river and the card Shepsky had wanted to see before the board ran out ends up being the one to cripple him leaving him with around 26,000.

Event 15: Pantaridis Doubles on Last Hand Before Break

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 12: 600/1200/100 Ante

On the last hand before the break, Konstantinos Pantaridis tangled with the chip leader and got away with it.

After pre-flop betting by Pantaridis and John McDonald, the flop brought out a 6s8h7d board.  McDonald fired away, Pantaridis went all-in and was called.

McDonald 7s5c
Pantaridis AhAc

With top pair and the up-and-down straight draw, McDonald hoped for a card to end Pantaridis’s day but the Ks and 6d would not do it and Pantaridis picked up a much-needed double-up.

Players are now on break headed to Level 13.

Event 15: Wang Doubles Up, Karim Eliminated

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 12: 600/1200/100 Ante

Patience may be wearing thin as Michael Wang decided to take a stab and go over the top all-in to Steele Sutter’s re-raise.  Sutter made the call and the hands were turned up.

Yang: 10c10h
Sutter: AdJh

Wang took an even bigger lead on the Td9c2h flop. Sutter picked up outs on with the 8d on the turn but Wang held on with a harmless 4h on the river. Yang doubled to around 75k.

In the meantime, Zo Karim took his final stand but couldn’t hang on and is out of this Event 15 in 11th Place leaving ten players still standing for the $38,609 first place prize.

Event 15: Slow Sledding

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 12: 600/1200 100 Ante

The eleven remaining players could be in for a long afternoon.  Only Roman Valerstein and Zo Karim started under 30,000 in chips and with Valerstein essentially doubling up a short time ago, the blinds won’t be putting much pressure on most of these players anytime soon.

Chip leader John McDonald has done his job to start picking up two of the biggest hands to start the afternoon and pushing his stack to nearly 300,000 to open up his lead.

Event 15: Cards In The Air

And we are underway in Event 15!  Eleven players remain for this Eight-Handed title.  Adding more drama is the fact that only eight players will cash the event.   With the money bubble and final table approaching, it should be an exciting afternoon here are the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open – Hollywood, FL!

Event 15: A Home Game Feel

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 8: 250/500 50 Ante

Table 65 is quite the sight to see right now.  Having Zo Karim (#brownmagic) is always interesting.  Then add in some hilarious table banter, four big stacks, two guys eating chicken finger dinners, one player having a water and a soda sharing space and a dancing player getting a message.  This table has a definite home game flair to it to say the least.

Then to top it off, Alexander Haber called the all-in of the player he’d just doubled up through holding Ad9d against AhKs.  The board ran out with Haber hitting a straight and a diamond flush.  Haber called out the straight before it was pointed out he actually hit the nut flush.  Haber said “I’ll just take the straight.”

Have fun, Table 65.  It’s going to be an interesting night….

Event 15: The “Ya Man” Dance Debuts

$1,650 Eight-Handed No Limit Hold ‘Em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 7: 200/400 50 Ante

You do what you have to do.  Jamaican Alexander Haber was racing for his tournament life with pocket sixes against ace-king.  To entice the cards to go his way, he decided to break out in dance.  Swinging his hips and circling his arms with a big smile, another six came on the flop and Haber stayed alive and is apparently trying to start a new dance craze he called the “Ya Man”.

We’ll see if Haber’s dance moves can get to the final table.  34 players remain in Event 15.
